Questa canzone ha oltre ventisei anni fa, e ventisei anni fa Lucio Dalla aveva quasi previsto tutto. Del resto, bastava appunto osservare con attenzione la tv di allora, i talk show, i "reality" che muovevano i loro primi passi. Dico "quasi" previsto tutto; forse non immaginava che, ventisei anni dopo, Merdman sarebbe andato al potere con grande consenso degli italiani:

Ne aveva fatto, più che il ritratto, la fotografia. Paragonabile a quella di Renato Brunetta fatta da De André nel Giudice. Ve lo immaginate Salvini che caca? E poi non offendetevi e non inalberatevi se si dice che l'Italia è un paese di merda: Merdman se la sta pappando tutta quanta. Renan Luce racconta un viaggio a Berlino con la figlia e la ex moglie, Lolita Sechan (la figlia di Renaud) ma la vicenda personale si unisce alla storia della città ed il muro caduto rappresenta un po' tutti i muri che ci dividono ancora l'uno dall'altro. Bellissimo il video.

Il newyorkese William Hayes, classe 1947, meglio noto come Billy Hayes , ex-studente di giornalismo alla Marquette University, decide di fare lo scrittore, lascia l’università e si da ai viaggi. Durante un viaggio in Turchia nel 1970 cerca di esportare 2,5 kg di hashish. Scoperto all’aeroporto di Istanbul è condannato alla reclusione di quattro anni nel famigerato carcere Sağmalcılar, quartiere Edirnekapı di Istanbul.
Due anni dopo viene trasferito all’ospedale psichiatrico di Bakırköy, nell’omonimo distretto di Istanbul. Vane le pressioni del Dipartimento di Stato americano per fargli scontare la pena negli... (Continues)

Their' existence had been extremely difficult owing to the general belief that they had been imported by the coal operators to lower wages and degrade working conditions.

The Slavs worried John Mitchell , the strike leader. When he first came into the region, Mitchell saw clearly that if he were to succeed in his mission to organize the industry, racial and national barriers must first be broken down. Jaap van de Merwe, nato nel 1924 a Rotterdam, era un cabarettista e autore di canzoni antifascista; le sue canzoni le faceva preferibilmente cantare ad altri, come ad esempio questa, interpretata e incisa nel 1990 da Gerard Cox in un album dedicato alla città di Rotterdam e intitolato, con un titanico sforzo di fantasia, Rotterdam. Jaap van de Merwe era morto circa un anno prima: esattamente il 19 febbraio del 1989, anzi del fatidico 1989, all'età di sessantacinque anni. Quando ne aveva sedici, il 10 maggio 1940, di punto in bianco, la Germania hitleriana aveva invaso i Paesi Bassi, nell'ottica di aggirare le difese francesi (in primis la famosa e inutile Linea Maginot), violando tranquillamente... 'The Avondale Mine Disaster' recounts the anthracite industry's first major tragedy in which 110 men and boys were lost. of early collieries, the Avondale was ventilated by means of a furnace built on the bottom level , its flue running up the height of the shaft. This shaft , leading to the breaker above. was the only outlet.

The fire started early in the morning of Septem­ber 6. 1869. when the flue partition caught fire. The flames roared up the shaft and fired the breaker. Men and boys, their only avenue of escape cut off, and the air currents stopped. fought a desperate battle against gJses. Rescue work began immediately after the fire was extinguished.... 'Down, Down, Down,' started out as a barroom ballad but its swing and charm have won it general acceptance even beyond the anthracite region. It re· lates the experiences of a miner reporting for work with a hangover. But it is more than the record of a tipsy worker's muddled thoughts. Its significance lies in its refiection of the miner's daily buffetings and the surprising good humor with which he faces them.

Originally the ballad had about forty stanzas, but because it was too long to sing without interruption, it was broken up into groups of stanzas correspond­ ing to the levels of an anthracite mine. At each level, the customers standing around... (Continues)
