Where Have all the Flowers Gone

Where Have all the Flowers Gone
TURCO/TURKISH/TURC
Oğuz Tarihmen

Turkish version by Oğuz Tarihmen
Versione turca di Oğuz Tarihmen
Version turcque d'Oğuz Tarihmen

As a songwriter and a Turkish street musician, 9 years ago, I had translated the song "Where have all the flowers gone" via the German translation. I was a school boy at the German School, Istanbul, so I used the German translation as the starting point of my Turkish translation. Today I am a teacher of the German language. After some time, I realized that the original of the song is in English. So, I crosschecked it and did some correction after which my translation has become its final version. My translation is linear to the German translation, then.

My Turkish translation is fully singable. In deed, I had sung it in English, German and Turkish many years in my band during my career as a street musician. Some people in Turkey know my version of the song... (Continues)

I Don't Want To Join The Army

I poeti

I poeti

(Continues)

Wernher von Braun

Lyrics and music by Tom Lehrer
Testo e musica di Tom Lehrer
Album: That was the year that was [1967]

Lo avete mai visto un canzonettista che, tra i libri da lui pubblicati, ha titoli come Random walks with restraining barrier as applied to the biased binary counter o The distribution of the number of locally maximal elements in a random sample? No?

General Custer

General Custer
Traditional folksong
Recorded 1971 by Tom Paxton on "How Come The Sun"
Canzone popolare
Incisa nel 1971 da Tom Paxton in "How Come The Sun"
The Mudcat Café

(Continues)

"G" Suits And Parachutes

Anonymous
[ca. 1951]
To the tune of "Bell Bottom Trousers"

A Church Is Burning

A Church Is Burning

“A very early song from the English album, the Paul Simon Songbook. A good example of what I was at. I went to college with a boy named Andrew Goodman who was killed in Mississippi with two others. It was a famous murder: Goodman, Schwaner and Chaney were killed in the summer of '62 or '63. They were killed by the Klan or whoever. And I had been in several classes with Andrew Goodman, and it was the first death I had ever experienced. So I think that was the emotional pool that I was drawing from in that song. I wasn't a harsh critic of my work at the time. I was just beginning to write in a style that was... (Continues)

The Forgotten Soldier Boy

The Forgotten Soldier Boy
[1936]

"Somebody asked about whether there were any serious bluegrass songs. This is very early, from the Monroe Brothers, Charlie and Bill, 1936. I am not sure it is available anywhere at the moment. It was on a old (great) vinyl collection, Country Music South and West
from New World Records. recorded by the Monroe Brothers, October 12, 1936 on Bluebird B-6829"
http://www.mudcat.org

Nel disco collettivo “Poor Man, Rich Man - American Country Songs Of Protest” (1989).

Nella raccolta “The Monroe Brothers ‎– Just A Song Of Old Kentucky (Volume Two)” (2001)
