This very interesting, contemporary Turkish version of ¡A las barricadas!, contributed by Boreč / Borec / Борец (no doubt one of the keenest Warszawianka collectors in the world), originates overtly in struggling Anarchist milieus. “Kara Notalar” (“Black Notes” in Turkish) may be the name of the band performing this (also musically interesting) version, but attribution is uncertain due to understandable lack of information -being an Anarchist band might lead you into jail, and even worse, in Erdoğan's sultanate. This is also why an English translation has been provided: the song is certainly focused on the current situation in Turkey, but the everlasting spirit of the old Spanish song lingers on. [RV]

This Finnish-American Wobbly version of the song by an unknown author was first published in 1918 in Proletaari Lauluja (Proletarian Songs, Workers Socialist Publishing Company, Duluth, Minnesota). According to Ilpo Saunio & Timo Tuovinen’s book Edestä aattehen - suomalaisia työväenlauluja 1890 - 1938 (For the Cause - Finnish Working Class Songs 1890 - 1938, Tammi Publishing Company, Helsinki 1978), its lyricist is unknown suggesting that the Finnish music archive records crediting the almost identical lyrics of the above version (Proletaarit nouskaa) from 1928 to Hannes Saari may not be correct.

Talvolta parlando della difficile situazione dei Curdi in Rojava si evoca il classico “vaso di coccio” sbattuto tra quelli di ferro (tra Usa e Russia, tra Ankara e Damasco…) e destinato quindi a frantumarsi.
Dimenticando che se c’è qualche speranza per l’intera area di fuoriuscire (oltre che dai conflitti settari, dall’autoritarismo patriarcale, dagli integralismi etc…) dallo stretto controllo esercitato sia dalla potenze regionali che da quelle planetarie, è solo quella del progetto curdo di Confederalismo democratico.
Altro, almeno per ora, non si intravede sul fosco orizzonte.In compenso stiamo probabilmente per assistere all’ennesimo voltafaccia (parlare di “tradimento” sarebbe forse eccessivo; in fondo Putin non ha mai garantito nulla o quasi ai curdi…) da parte di Mosca.

Riccardo, mi hai fatto venire in mente ricordi di infanzia anche a me. Ricordo di aver amato questa canzone in uno dei primi dischi di musica celtica entrati in casa mia. Era il 1997 e l'album era Ballads Of Old England (Antiche Ballate Inglesi Ed Irlandesi) di Adrian Harman distribuito da Avvenimenti. Erano gli anni in cui nasceva per me l'amore per la musica irlandese e, conseguentemente/contemporaneamente, per il combat folk.

2002-ben „Hangok Buchenwaldból” (Stimmen aus Buchenwald) címmel antológia jelent meg Göttingenben a buchenwaldi koncentrációs tábort megjártak visszaemlékezéseiből. A kötet 161 írást tartalmaz ismert és ismeretlen szerzőktől. Németországban több recenzió is megjelent a könyvről, amelyekben Primo Levivel, Elie Wiesellel és Kertész Imrével együtt, az ismert szerzők közt sorolják fel a szombathelyi születésű Eugén Heimlert is.

feat. Phil Manzanera, The Solidarity Express
Un brano che ha alle spalle una storia speciale, scritto in collaborazione con l'amico Giovanni Rubbiani, durante il primo lockdown, cantato in uno degli appuntamenti quotidiani "Dalla soffitta" sui social di Cisco che tanto successo hanno ottenuto, la canzone in seguito ha avuto una vita propria e una vicenda unica e particolare. È stata ascoltata e voluta da Dan Chiorboli, musicista di origini italiane che vive in Sud Africa, con cui Cisco ha collaborato due anni fa nel disco e nella tournee italiana "The Liberation Project", per il progetto artistico musicale internazionale che si chiama Solidarity Express. È nato così un pezzo colorato e "globale" di world music impreziosito dalla splendida voce di Tamani Mbeya che duetta con Cisco in lingua Chichewa del Malawi. Successivamente il brano è "volato"...
