Seiler (Siamo italiani del 1964). Gli immigrati italiani possono compiere tre scelte difficili e dolorose. O lasciare i bambini in Italia, con nonni, zii… o metterli in uno degli istituti nati in provincia di Como o Varese, come se fossero orfani, o portarli con sé, tenerli nascosti. Sono Liam Vik e canto solo i brani rap che scrivo, è una passione che che vivo da quando ho sentito la necessità di ricercare dentro e fuori dalla mia mente il senso della giustizia, della verità. Mi definirei un poeta di strada che da poco ha deciso di fare ascoltare i suoi testi, cantando in una via sull’asfalto oppure su di un palco.
Pensai di scrivere questo rap per una forte empatia che provai nei confronti della famiglia Arrigoni quando giunse la notizia della tragica scomparsa di Vittorio, che fino a quel momento non sapevo purtroppo chi fosse. In seguito conobbi la sua vita leggendo i libri che narravano della sua esperienza come volontario di pace in varie parti del mondo, e così, dopo alcune riflessioni decisi di realizzare questo brano che ritengo essere un inno per la pace e non per la guerra, infatti con le mie parole non ho voluto... 1917 was written largely about the Battle of Passchendaele fought between July and December 1917 in some of the worst conditions of the whole war, and described by Lloyd George as "one of the greatest disasters of the war ... No soldier of any intelligence now defends this senseless campaign ..."
The song also references the changing political situations, the Russian Revolution and French army mutiny, as well as the less well known British mutiny at Étaples.
Finally 1917 addresses the executions of 306 British and Commonwealth soldiers in World War One, many of whom were suffering from shell shock and unfairly branded cowards. There is a little nod to Magnum's superb song on the subject Les Morts Dansant in the lyrics.

Della Lega dei Contadini Poveri, organizzazione popolare brasiliana, ne avevamo parlato l’anno scorso -in ottobre - quando nello stato di Rondonia un accampamento della LCP veniva messo sotto assedio dalle truppe (la polizia militare, il BOPE) di Jair Bolsonaro. Con l’intento di sloggiare le famiglie degli agricoltori (almeno un centinaio i bambini qui presenti) e, presumibilmente, consegnare quelle terre ai latifondisti.
Stando a quanto riportava A Nova Democracia, il 10 ottobre 2020 “circa 300 membri della Polizia Militare, Forza Nazionale, Forza Tattica e altre forze repressive sfrattavano in maniera violenta e illegale seicento famiglie organizzate dalla Lega dei Contadini Poveri nell’Accampamento di Tiago do Santos”.

Da giorni circa tremila rifugiati che - invano - cercavano di entrare in Europa attraverso la Polonia, rimangono bloccati alla frontiera, nella foresta.
Molti di quei disperati (in gran parte donne e bambini) sono curdi che provengono dalla regione autonoma dell’Iraq e dal nord della Siria. Ossia da territori sottoposti, se pur in maniera diversa, agli attacchi di Ankara.
Abbandonati da entrambi gli Stati confinanti, sarebbero già una ventina quelli morti di ipotermia, fame o disidratazione. Una dozzina quelli desaparecidos.
Sulla questione è intervenuto il Congresso nazionale del Kurdistan. Rivolgendosi all’Unione europea, il KNK ha definito “disumano e inammissibile” il modo in cui Polonia e Bielorussia trattano i migranti. Con un appello non solo all’Ue ma anche a “tutti... (Continues)

D'accordo, vi avrà pure fregati a voialtri polacchi, però intanto ve l'hanno infilato nell'inno nazionale e vu' ve lo dovete puppà per sempre (o almeno finché non cambierete l'inno, sostituendolo finalmente con la Warszawianka 1905 roku). Poi sé, a proposito di vita di paese, ne so qualcosa del “corsicano”, come lo chiami te. E' passato pe' quarchemmese dall'Elba dugentanni fa (e avrebbe fatto pure meglio a restacci, pe' poi dé andà a rifinì e a morì a Sant'Elena, che i' posto più vicino dev'èsse' i' pianeta Nettuno...'un c'era proprio nettuno!); i' resurtato gliè che, da ragazzi, si beveva l'acqua minerale “Napoleon” d'una sorgente tra i' Poggio e Marciana,
i turisti andavano a dormì a i' Residence Napoleon vicino a Procchio, un autentico ecomostro che sembra un ospedale e per il quale è stata sbancata un'intera collina di macchia mediterranea,
si mangiavano le Sardine Napoleon,
e c'era l'agenzia di viaggi “Napoleonelba” e tutto i'resto...
i turisti andavano a dormì a i' Residence Napoleon vicino a Procchio, un autentico ecomostro che sembra un ospedale e per il quale è stata sbancata un'intera collina di macchia mediterranea,

Uhmm...d'accordo sul “politicamente scorretto”, di cui, ne' suoi oramai lontani inizi, Roberto Benigni è stato alfiere; poi s'è dato ai buoni sentimenti, alle bibbie, a Dante Alighieri (che, peraltro, politicamente corretto non lo era proprio per niente), a' Pinocchi e, mi sia permesso d'aggiungere, anche a quel pesce lesso della su' moglie...meglio quando gli piaceva la moglie di Paolo Conte...
...però, in tutta questa tua attuale orgia di “frocci” e di politically uncorrect, non capisco tutto questo tuo attentare alla virilità di Napoleone Bonaparte. D'accordo, Napoleone sembra fosse un tambocchiolino di un metro e sessanta, bruttino, grassoccio e -ovviamente- parecchio “migliorato” nell'iconografia ufficiale; succede quando si diventa Imperatore, invece che impiegato alle poste o vuotacessi alle ferrovie. Nota del traduttore. Perché il Love Canal si chiami davvero così, è spiegato fin dalle prime righe dell'introduzione copiaincollata integralmente da it.wikipedia. Quindi, nella traduzione avrei dovuto lasciare il nome del canale così com'è, o al massimo mettere “Canale Love”. “Love” è un cognome piuttosto comune in ogni paese anglofono. Però, vista la storia altamente edificante raccontata in questa canzone, in modo del tutto arbitrario ho tradotto come fosse il “Canale dell'Amore”. Mi è venuto in mente che, in fondo, si trattava davvero di un “canale dell'amore”, di amore per i quattrini e per il profitto, naturalmente. Un canale che portava tutto questo grande amore, in forma di diossina e altri veleni, attraverso bei prati, linde casette, nella scuolina dei bambini, nelle pance delle future mamme, a due passi dalle famose cascate del Niagara.
