Canzone dedicata a Assata Shakur, attivista afroamericana che ha aderito alle Black Panthers. Arrestata per diverse accuse, è evasa nel 1979 grazie a un'azione armata di membri del Black Liberation Army. Le guardie carcerarie furono prese in ostaggio ma liberate poco dopo e nessuno fu ucciso durante l'evasione. Silvia Baraldini è stata accusata di fare parte del commando che ha portato all'evasione.
Nel 1984 Assata Shakur è fuggita a Cuba, paese che le ha concesso asilo politico, e dove vive tuttora.

Le Mur était tombé depuis peu et en février 1990, lors d’un concert à Altona, Hambourg (la ville du martyr antifasciste Bruno Tesch et des nombreux autres qui ont été tués par les nazis durant l’été 1932), Wolf Biermann chanta, entre autres, cette belle ballade dédiée à un de ses amis, également martyr du totalitarisme : Robert Havemann.
Robert Havemann (1910-1982) était chimiste. À l’avènement du nazisme, il était déjà chercheur universitaire à l’Institut Kaiser Wilhelm. Pas de chance, Robert Havemann était communiste, et pas seulement cela ; il devint rapidement un membre actif de la Widerstand, la résistance allemande. Arrêté par la Gestapo en 1943, il fut condamné à mort, mais l’exécution de la sentence fut continuellement reportée, grâce à l’intercession de certains de ses anciens collègues qui firent croire... Zinn’s best known for writing A People’s History of the United States. He passed away in 2010, but his ideas still live strong in the hearts and minds of people he continues to inspire through his work.
As he says in a 2005 interview with The G Living Network, he answered the question of whether we can ever have a “just war”:
[…] The technology of warfare has reached a point where war is always the indiscriminate killing of huge numbers of people. And wars, at one time, were fought by armies; soldiers killed soldiers. Now, and we heard tonight Dr. Gino Strada […] tell us that the victims that he takes care of in the hospitals [..] are 90% civilians, 30% of them children. Che sia un giorno dopo, almeno qui dove mi trovo attualmente, lo si vede anche dal fatto che ieri è stata una giornata da lupi: pioggia fitta incessante, buio a mezzogiorno e, in serata, pure la neve. Davvero un Natale da “Day after”; solo che, il day after, quello vero -cioè oggi- splende un magnifico sole. Grazie B.B. Finalmente il testo giusto di questo piccolo capolavoro. Notevole anche la traduzione inglese, rendere correttamente "a suon di ganascini" non era facile. Stasera per la prima volta il tradizionale Natale Zen andrà in streaming e non dal vivo causa COVID.
