Done in more of a Vaudeville style than true PROG! (Whatever that is)
When we played Summers End festival in 2016, some of the band members were a tad skeptical about performing this one live...but I stuck to my guns (no pun intended) and in the end, it turned out to be the most talked about piece that we performed on the day when it came to the reviews!" (Guy)

Come avrai sicuramente visto, uno dei procedimenti tipici di Cornelis era quello di utilizzare i motivi di canzoni per scriverci sopra testi assolutamente differenti; e questo è uno di quei casi. Non si tratta quindi di una "versione svedese di Sam Hall", ma di una canzone autonoma, sempre ovviamente da inserire nel sito.

Comme tu peux le supposer en lisant le titre et ce qu’il dit entre parenthèses, Lucien l’âne mon ami, c’est la chanson d’un gars qui ne veut plus travailler et qui s’adresse au président pour le lui signifier. C’est une sorte de déserteur, mais du champ de bataille qu’est le travail. Pour ce faire, comme dans la chanson de Vian, le protagoniste écrit une lettre au Président – ici, de l’Italie, mais ce pourrait être de n’importe quel pays et il pourrait s’agir de n’importe quel chef d’État, quel que soit son titre : Président, Roi ou Reine, Empereur ou Impératrice, Rais, Ras, Secrétaire Général, Prince ou Grand-Duc, Duce, Conducator, Caudillo et autres Chefs.

L'académie suédoise a ajouté un genre de plus, il y a quelques années, pour les humains quand on ne sait pas de qui l'on parle, pour les transgenres, etc. Cette chanson est antérieure.
N'étant pas fan de l'écriture inclusive, je trouve qu'elle manque particulièrement de poésie, je traduit "Dem" par "Ceux" et par "eux" dans le reste du texte. À vous de voir si vous la chanter, le texte français étant plus long que le suédois, si vous le rallonger encore plus et ditent celles et ceux ou elles et eux, ça va pas être évident à placer sur la musique.

Questa canzone è espressamente dedicata alle truppe da sbarco di Evpatorija e mi ricordo di averla ascoltata dal vivo, purtroppo non dal suo autore, comunque da Moni Ovadia che l'ha riproposta, addirittura in lingua originale, nello spettacolo del 1996 “Ballata di Fine Millenio” (che tra l'altro terminava con “Take this Waltz” di Leonard Cohen tratto dal Piccolo Valzer Viennese di F. G. Lorca). Volodja la compose durante le riprese di “Una cattiva brava persona”. Alcune scene del film erano girate a Saki, in Crimea, dov'è il monumento eretto a memoria dello sbarco del 5 gennaio 1942 e dove questi 700 incursori della Marina Militare Sovietica avevano l'ordine preciso di impegnare il più possibile le truppe nemiche che assediavano Sebastopoli. Durò tre giorni, poi fu la fine. Vysockij, tra l'altro, vinse con questo film anche il premio Cariddi per la migliore interpretazione maschile al 5°... (Continues)

inoltre in un manoscritto dell'inizio del XVIII secolo conservato alla Bibliothèque Nationale, viene riportata una versione radicalmente differente dello stesso avvenimento che originò la canzone. Mi riservo di trascriverlo appena avrò tempo per farlo, nel frattempo però voglio dirti che il ritornello che tanto amiamo "Que maudit soit la guerre" si trova per la prima volta in una complainte composta l'indomani della morte del Chevalier Bayard, ucciso con un colpo di archibugio alla schiena nel 1524:

La Complainte era un genere particolare di canzone narrativa, spesso molto lunga e priva di ritornelli. Il suo compito in effetti, con la maggioranza delle genti analfabeta, era quello di fungere da cronaca cantata degli avvenimenti, una vera letteratura orale. Ho approfondito questa degli Studenti di Pontoise e in effetti ci possono essere due interpretazioni degli stessi avvenimenti, perchè ci sono due Coomplaintes radicalmente opposte. La storia non è limpida. Inoltre è evidente la facoltà degli autori di condizionare l'opinione dei loro uditori. Quindi aggiungerei a questa pagina anche "Les écoliers pendus" che li descrive invece come dei violentatori certi di farla franca, grazie alla posizione sociale del fratello "Gran Rettore a Parigi" e in questo senso mi pare va interpretata anche la rapidità con la quale avvennero le esecuzioni, antipando così l'intervento del fratello che nel...
