Célèbre chanson de la poétesse de Mytilène Σαπφώ, de Sappho de Lesbos, qui vécut entre de VII et VIᵉ siècle (avant Zéro).
Que dire ? Qu'ajouter ? Dans une époque où dominait la musculature guerrière des mâles, Sappho avait osé en affirmer la vacuité, la bêtise, l'inutilité, l'absurdité face à l'Amour, qui est le seul à pouvoir donner un sens aux actions des hommes, à leurs vies.
Même cette grande « truie » d'Hélène, exemple commun d'adultère et de déshonneur familial et de cause de tous les maux, guerre comprise, est par Sappho non seulement réhabilitée comme victime innocente d'Aphrodite (alias Vénus, alias Cypris), mais montrée comme responsable de son choix, comme femme courageuse parce que libre dans... La versione di Gianfranco rimanda senza dubbio al dialetto ligure...l'ultima parola che ha abbreviato e' un termine volgare ma corrente per indicare un rimedio popolare e consigliato in tutti i casi, che veniva praticato da professioniste "licenziate" dalla Legge Merlin.

The Rolling Stones: (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction
Il testo della cover di Otis Redding
La celebre cover di Otis Redding (che restituiva alla canzone l'arrangiamento soul/blues inizialmente ideato da Keith Richards, che poi si convinse a registrare una versione più dura ed elettrica) ha un testo diverso dall'originale. Il chitarrista Steve Cropper che accompagnava Redding in studio racconta: "se ascolti l'incisione originale degli Stones fai fatica a capire le parole, allora ho preso un foglio e ho provato a trascrivere il testo per come lo capivo. L'ho dato a Otis, appena prima dell'incisione, lui l'ha gettato per terra e ha improvvisato il suo testo... ecco tutto".

Respect
The importance of the song for the civil rights movement was summed up by activist Ben Chavis, who worked with Martin Luther King as a youth coordinator:
We always sang songs about things we didn’t have. We said, ‘We shall overcome.’ We hadn’t overcome, but we sang ‘We shall overcome‘. And when Aretha came out with ‘Respect,’ we weren’t getting any respect. Black folks were being disrespected, being beat down, killed trying to get the right to vote. It was like she was fulfilling not only an urgency of the movement of that time, but she made known through her song that we were going to get respect. And then in July of ’67, we have the rebellion in Detroit. Many people also thought ‘Dancing in the Streets’ or ‘Heat Wave’ was a call to action. And those are all great songs. But ‘Respect’ had a different tenor to it that really kind of made you pay attention, and it still does.

Caro Emiliano, erano quelli tempi piuttosto bui, preceduti da secoli variamente tenebrosi nel corso dei quali i poteri secolare e temporale non ci pensavano molto su prima di torturare, sbudellare, squartare, decapitare, annegare, ardere vivi coloro che la pensavano in modo anche solo lievemente diverso... Per cui non me la prenderei tanto con chi non se la sentì di fare l'eroe... Per di più Meslier non fece mai carriera, trascorse 40 anni nella stessa piccola parrocchia e, probabilmente, se quella volta avesse alzato un poco di più la voce contro quel signorotto tracotante e sfruttatore, di lui non sarebbe rimasta memoria, cancellata da un colpo di spada o da una punizione esemplare ordinata dai vertici ecclesiastici, mentre - per fortuna nostra - è riuscito a trasmetterci un'opera fondamentale per l'evoluzione del libero pensiero.

La cover italiana dei NoBraino (band originaria di Riccione formatasi già nel 1996) è del 2015; sfruttando il medesimo artificio grafico del proprio nome, si intitolata ClandestiNo. Nel medesimo 2015, la band viene invitata al concerto del 1° maggio da tenersi a Taranto, ma inciampa -come tanti- nei “social media” (si veda qui. Il chitarrista Néstor Fabbri pubblica infatti un “commento cinico e sarcastico” su Facebook (che compare a nome del leader del gruppo, Lorenzo Kruger, che non c'entra però niente) dopo una recente strage nel canale di Sicilia (700 migranti morti): neanche il peggior leghista avrebbe saputo fare di peggio. Questo vale alla band l'esclusione immediata dal concerto del 1° maggio, sancita da Roy Paci; e non valgono... (Continues)
