Interpretata anche da Linda Ronstadt con Emmylou Harris (con la partecipazione di Neil Young all'armonica e ai cori) nell'album Western Wall: The Tucson Session del 1999.

Nuclear Man was an anti-Bush anthem which commented on the situation reflecting the Iraq war, and the war on terror itself. The song is from the perspective of a politician who is having a crisis of conscience and is trying to come to terms with making what he feels is the right choice. Unfortunately, he is not stopping himself from his own hypocrisy and greed.

La voilà donc, Lucien l'âne mon ami, cette canzone-sœur de la Locomotive, que je t'avais promise.

Elle m'y faisait trop penser à la locomotive et je me serais senti un peu embrenné de ne pas y faire l'allusion nécessaire, et de ne pas lui rendre l'hommage d'une traduction de ma main. Je ne fais ainsi que rendre à Francesco Guccini, ce qui lui revient. Voilà pour le pourquoi. Quant au comment... J'ai gardé l'habitude de lire et celle de lire plusieurs journaux chaque jour... Testo: secondo i documenti conservati presso l’ANPI di Foiano della Chiana, la canzone sarebbe stata scritta da tal Orlando Innocenti di Pieve a Socana, nel Casentino. Ma anche Ezio Croci di Talla (il paese dove Licio Nencetti fu fucilato dai fascisti nel maggio del 1944) se ne attribuisce la paternità.

La "guardia rossa" è senz'altro il rivoluzionario bolscevico ma in Italia, nel 1919, le "guardie rosse" furono le formazioni di difesa proletarie protagoniste del "biennio rosso" (1919-1920), iniziato in Toscana con la protesta contro l'aumento dei prezzi dei viveri nota come "il bocci-bocci" ( bolscevismo = "fare i cocci" = spaccare tutto) e culminato con l'occupazione di centinaia di fabbriche, soprattutto a Torino, Milano e Genova. Le "guardie rosse" confluirono poi nell'organizzazione paramilitare degli "Arditi del Popolo" e poi... per oltre vent'anni non fu che fascismo e guerra.

Leoncarlo Settimelli scrisse questa canzone per uno degli spettacoli del Canzonere Internazionale ispirandosi ad alcuni frammenti di un canto degli Arditi del Popolo (quelli qui sotto riportati in corsivo e tra parentesi). E la dedica non poteva non essere al padre Donato Settimelli che degli Arditi del Popolo di Lastra a Signa fu membro e responsabile. Questa una sua testimonianza: “Ci si illudeva forse, era un’illusione, ma insomma questo entusiasmo io credo sia stato necessario, e sarebbe stato necessario in tutta la gioventù dell’epoca... insomma a molta gioventù dell’epoca, per impedire al fascismo di venire. The song "Arkansas Grass" (released in Australia on Parlophone # A-8909, and in the US on Sire Records # 45-4117), took a generic anti-war position in the Vietnam-era, narrated from a soldier's perspective, who wondered what would happen if the general "gave up the wars". The soldier wanted to "throw down his gun, to run to be free".

Ehi, ma questa canzone dimenticata contribuita ben tre anni or sono da anonymous è un’assoluta ‎kikkazza!‎
Ma come!?! E’ il brano che accompagna i titoli di testa di “Full Metal Jacket” dell’immortale ‎Stanley Kubrick, quelli dove ci vengono presentati alcuni dei protagonisti (compreso “Palla di ‎lardo”, con la sua indimenticabile espressione ebete) mentre vengono rapati a zero dai barbieri ‎dell’esercito prima di essere mandati all’addestramento e, quindi, al macello…‎

... ed il fatto di essere stata scelta da Kubrick per il suo film, pietra miliare della cinematografia di guerra, è anche l'unica ragione per cui questa canzone ha diritto di trovarsi qui sulle CCG/AWS, perchè in realtà si tratta di un testo completamente favorevole alla guerra imperialista nordamericana...
