Here's a jug band/swing ode to 'the lowest life form found in nature's lab' - strikebreakers or Scabs!
"I wrote this song for Solidarity Day '91... I was inspired by a New York Daily News striking reporter. In a curious turn of events he ended up inside the building at 3 AM during the height of the strike. He talked about what it was like to see pictures of someone else's kids on the desk he worked at for 22 years. He said it was like "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" – that only pod people could come in and do what these scabs were doing".

Another propaganda ballad, written by William Hornsby and published as a broadside during the 1844 strike, this time extolling the heroic and steadfast virtues of the women in the coalfield. Like many songs of the time it used an existing popular folk tune.

E se ti trovi clandestino e hai 20 anni, 30 anni è un problema, ma se ti trovi clandestino che ancora sei un bambino di due anni? E' una tragedia! E' una visione di questi due bambini che oggi sono ancora da considerarsi bambini, ma da domani saranno clandestini, con tutto quello che ne consegue. Qualcuno ha tradito il suo Vangelo per poter far questo. E' un problema di civiltà."
