The brutal and murderous military regime in Burma is one of the worst in the world. How sad it is to see Australia's own Bob Hawke taking blood money to go in to bat for them...

(Continues)

It's Always the Other Side
[1999]
Testo di / Lyrics by Peter Hicks
Musica di / Music by Geoff Francis
Does the stunning silence from people in western countries and their lack of opposition to NATO's savage war against the people of Yugoslavia mean that all but a lunatic fringe of Serb nationalists have swallowed the imperialist warmakers lies hook, line and sinker? We hope not.
Does anyone believe that the psychopathic Clinton gives a toss for the people of Kosovo, or, for that matter, for anything at all other than his own dick? Surely not.

"Within hours of the result of the East Timorese independence ballot being announced, the evil Tony Blair had despatched an underling to Jakarta - to offer to sell the Indonesian government more arms! We're used to some evil things from reptile politicians - but can anybody cap that?"

East Timor Betrayed
[1999]
Testo di / Lyrics by Peter Hicks
Musica di / Music by Geoff Francis
"Has there ever, morally, been a worse episode in human history than the cynical betrayal of East Timor by it's so-called "friends" - Australia, the USA, the United Nations, the United Kingdom - all have played their shameful parts?
Within hours of the result of the East Timorese independence ballot being announced, UK prime minister Tony Blair had even despatched an underling to Jakarta - to offer to sell the Indonesian government more arms! We're used to some evil things from reptile politicians - but can anybody cap that?"
A Yeltsin è succeduto, come tutti sanno, Vladimir Putin. Another War Out There
Testo di / Lyrics by Peter Hicks
Musica di / Music by Geoff Francis
From the CD The Times We've Been Through.
When George Bush declared war on the women, men and children of Iraq, so eager was Bob Hawke to get his tongue all the way up Georgie Porgie's arse that he offered the help of the Australian navy before he was even asked! Jeff Pattersen was the first of what was to become many US marines who refused to fight. Some of them are still political prisoners in Bill Clinton's jails, even today.

Stop the War in Croatia
(Continues)

Refugees
[1970]
Testo e musica di Peter Hammill
Lyrics and music by Peter Hammil
Dall'album / From "The Least We Can do is Wave to Each Other"

Corporal Clegg
[1968]
Roger Waters
Da/From "A Saucerful of Secrets"
"Corporal Clegg" is a song by British psychedelic rock band Pink Floyd, and is featured on their second album, A Saucerful of Secrets (1968). It was written by Roger Waters and features David Gilmour on guitar and lead vocals. This song also marks the vocal debut of drummer Nick Mason (in addition to speaking the line "All right men, in you go!" Nick sang the "He won it in the war...", "In orange red and blue...", "He's never been the same...", and "From her majesty the queen...' lyrics); this was confirmed on the US rock radio program Rockline in 1992. (Interestingly, a contemporary lip-synched performance video of the song doesn't show those parts being sung.) David Gilmour also plays the kazoo on this song. The inventor of the kazoo was named Thaddeus von Clegg, which is perhaps why they chose to name the title character Clegg.

History Will Teach Us Nothing
da "...Nothing like the sun" (1987)
I once asked my history teacher how we were expected to learn anything useful from his subject, when it seemed to me, to be nothing but a monotonous and sordid succession of robber baron scumbags devoid of any admirable human qualities.
I failed history.
The most palatable history of the world I ever read is only 120 pages long and part of Buckminster Fuller’s book, “Critical Path”. The robber baron scumbags are still there but some attempt is made to explain their pathology and why they’re still around today.
Source: Nothing Like the Sun liner notes.

When our friends in America warned us about the unspeakable horrors that would follow a George W Bush election victory we thought they were exaggerating. We humbly apologise. Howard, Blair and co are bad enough but this ... especially as his brilliant strategy for dealing with global warming seems to be to simply go into denial.
