La storia dell'Internazionale russa è complessa e, come spesso è accaduto con parecchie versioni nelle varie lingue, riflette delle differenze ideologiche. In seguito all'appello “agli scrittori russi” fatto da Jurij Steklov, direttore del quotidiano Izvestija, affinché si avesse una versione completa di tutte e sei le strofe dell'originale al posto di quella “primitiva” a tre strofe di Aron Kots, si ebbero diversi tentativi di diversi poeti (Anatolij Zarnicyn, Nikolaj Terkin, Ivan Smirnov, S. Gusljarov, S.S. Zajaickij, L.E. I Come and Stand at Every Door
English translation by Howard Fast of the poem by Nazim Hikmet

The first English version of the song I found was in Masses and Mainstream, monthly, New York, June 1955. It printed three songs of Nazim Hikmet, under the title "Poems for Peace," with the following note:
"These three songs of peace were written for the World Assembly of Peace by the famous Turkish poet, Nazim Hikmet. They were set to music by Czech composers, and the music as well as literal translations of the Turkish original was sent to Paul Robeson and Howard Fast in New York.
"What follows are the texts which Howard Fast wrote to the Czech music, basing himself as nearly as possible within the musical framework upon Nazim Hikmet's original version. They will be recorded by Paul Robeson, whose voice will be heard in Helsinki by the men women of the world assembly."

Un'ulteriore versione tratta da "La musica dell'altra Italia". E' anche quella (re)interpretata dai Del Sangre nell'album Vox Populi (2008), liberamente scaricabile dal link.
"Canto toscano, sull'aria di "Maremma", risale all'epoca delle guerre napoleoniche, e nacque probabilmente quando l'Imperatore istituì la leva obbligatoria anche nelle terre italiane conquistate, sull'esempio di quel che era accaduto in Francia con la rivoluzione.
I versi, sembra siano stati scritti da Anton Francesco Menchi, nato nel 1762 a Cucciano, nella montagna pistoiese. Il Menchi fu il più celebre cantastorie e poeta popolare del suo tempo in Firenze. Racconta un contemporaneo, Giuseppe Arcangeli, che improvvisava nei giorni del marcato nella Piazza del Granduca (Piazza Signoria) e richiamava intorno a sé una gran folla di campagnoli, quando suonando il suo tamburello a sonagli faceva uscire come per incanto da una cassetta una faina addomesticata. Fu avverso alle idee rivoluzionarie che venivano dalla Francia, cantò gli orrori della novella Babilonia (la Rivoluzione), la morte di... (Continues)

La versione (completa di sei strofe) di Erich Weinert [1937]. Erich Weinert fu poeta proletario e combattente antifascista tedesco durante la guerra di Spagna, nella brigata internazionale "Ernst Thälmann". La versione fu scritta in Spagna proprio per la brigata Thälmann, assieme ad altri canti e poesie. Erich Weinert era nato a Magdeburgo il 4 agosto 1890; morì il 20 aprile 1953 a Berlino Est.

In Börgermoor in Emsland dicht bij de Nederlandse grens werden onder meer politieke tegenstanders van het naziregime, Jehova's getuigen en homoseksuelen gevangengezet. Met eenvoudig gereedschap, zoals een spade, moest men in het veen (Duits: Moor) kanalen graven en ontginningswerkzaamheden verrichten.
Om de lange werkdagen wat te verlichten zong men liederen die soms zelf gemaakt werden. Mijnwerker Hans Esser en acteur Wolfgang Langhoff waren verantwoordelijk voor de tekst van het lied over de dwangarbeid in het veen, terwijl Rudi Goguel de melodie schreef. Het lied sprak de gevangenen direct aan omdat het hun gezamenlijk lot beschreef en de hoop op een toekomst in vrijheid bezong. BEASTS OF ENGLAND, THE INTERNATIONALE OF GEORGE ORWELL'S ANIMAL FARM

Beasts of England is a song in George Orwell's novel Animal Farm. With the events on Animal Farm mirroring those in the Soviet Union, the song is a parody of the famous communist anthem The Internationale.
In the book, Old Major explained his dream of an animal-controlled society three nights before his death. In this dream, a song came to him, to which he knew the tune as a piglet. After a few minutes of singing, the pigs memorized the song and the other animals at least picked up the tune.
It was frequently sung, sometimes several times over, especially after meetings. However, as Napoleon grew more powerful, he ordered that the singing of Beasts of England be outlawed, and replaced the song with an anthem praising... (Continues)
