Nel 1971, l'album Fetus era stato preparato in doppia versione: italiana e inglese (in realtà, tutti i brani dell'album, anche quelli in italiano, devono essere ascritti al 1971). La versione inglese, Foetus fu scartata (probabilmente anche perché la pronuncia inglese di Battiato era atroce) e pubblicata soltanto nel 1999.
Nel 1971, l'album Fetus era stato preparato in doppia versione: italiana e inglese (in realtà, tutti i brani dell'album, anche quelli in italiano, devono essere ascritti al 1971). The song Unfortunates by State Radio, released in their album Year of the crow is about the West Memphis Three, three teenagers (Damien Echols, Jesse Misskelley and Jason Baldwin) that were tried for the murder of three boys and convicted.
About 18 years later they were released as DNA evidence showed signs of their innocence.

The song is played an an old 20th century LP. The quality and background noise is the same of that as an LP from the 50’s.
Dexter also sounds very different than normal, as this isn’t even a rock song, but an old 50’s ballad, in which Dexter sings with a soft voice.

“Don’t Drink the Water” strongly divulges the story of Europeans who discover the Americas and decide to forcibly root the natives out to gain ownership without an ounce of respect.
The song’s narrator tells the story of how invaders force the natives to simply give up their own land so they can build their own home. They threaten to kill the natives if they decide to fight for what rightfully belongs to them.
And the sad thing is that the antagonistic invaders in this song are fully aware that what they are doing is wrong. However, they forge on with their unimaginable atrocities, motivated by one objective. And said objective is their selfish ambition to possess the land and build their own home at the expense of the natives.

Volevo fare un album eclettico. Ho iniziato a scrivere una sorta di colonna sonora per un film immaginario. Ma poi mi sono reso conto che ero rinchiuso nel mio piccolo studio casalingo, con questa nuova malattia pandemica che esplodeva sul pianeta terra, e stavo scrivendo canzoni sull’isolamento, la distanza, la separazione.
