The “Global Resistance Network” published a short singing tape of the Sahrawi artist Mariam Al-Hassan, recorded on August 06, 2015 in the Sahrawi refugee camps and titled Alwadae (“Farewell”)
The tape included touching words the skilled artist, who is in a difficult health situation, addresses to the Sahrawi people.
In this video, the Sahrawi artist recommends the Sahrawi people to withstand and preserve all its heritage, and expresses her great confidence that the rising generations keep on struggling and bringing the voice of the Sahrawi people beyond the borders.
For reference, the tape, which was recorded from inside her tent in the state of Smara, impressed many of the pioneers of social networks, who expressed a great emotion, wishing a speedy recovery to the Sahrawi artist.
The resistance network, which includes hundreds of people around the world who are defending peace and freedom, highlighted that Maryam El Hassan devoted her life to the struggle of the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination.

St. Pauli is a football team from the German town of Hamburg, known for the unmistakable political orientation of its fan club.

The city of Venice had to endure 42 air raids during WW1; the very first one occurred on 24 May 1915, the same day Italy declared war on the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The air bombing of 18 November 1917 occurred shortly after Caporetto rout and was among the hardest ones the city had to suffer. Venice had about 114,000 inhabitants before the war; in April 1918, only 40,000 were left. Most Venice refugees were moved to other Adriatic coast towns not affected by war, like Ancona or Pesaro in the Marche region. This song in the Venetian dialect is focused on this event.

This shaft , leading to the breaker above. was the only outlet.
The fire started early in the morning of September 6. 1869. when the flue partition caught fire. The flames roared up the shaft and fired the breaker. Men and boys, their only avenue of escape cut off, and the air currents stopped. fought a desperate battle against gJses. Rescue work began immediately after the fire was extinguished.... (Continues)

It re· lates the experiences of a miner reporting for work with a hangover. But it is more than the record of a tipsy worker's muddled thoughts. Its significance lies in its refiection of the miner's daily buffetings and the surprising good humor with which he faces them.
Originally the ballad had about forty stanzas, but because it was too long to sing without interruption, it was broken up into groups of stanzas correspond ing to the levels of an anthracite mine. At each level, the customers standing around... (Continues)

Addentrandoci in suoni più elettronici abbiamo questa canzone, inserita nel primo album del duo canadese, Cold War Night Life (1982). Un brano che apparentemente sembra trattare un argomento frivolo, la night life berlinese, ma che espone brillantemente e in modo pungente e ironico il clima degli anni della cortina di ferro. Anche la stessa melodia può essere vista come sarcasticamente rievocativa. Sembra quasi una parodia di una canzone presa da una colonna sonora di un film spionistico. Un testo contro la gentrificazione – quella che da noi chiamano riqualificazione urbana - dell'East Side di New York City. Succede in sostanza che proprietari di condomini fatiscenti, arricchitisi per decenni con affitti esosi imposti a gente povera, ricevono offerte molto allettanti da società interessate ad acquistare per ristrutturare e vendere a prezzi molto più alti ad acquirenti facoltosi. Molto velocemente il tessuto urbano cambia e i poveri sono costretti a cambiare aria.
La canzone venne scritta da Reid partendo dai versi con cui la Morris rifletteva sul cambiamento repentino che in quegli anni stava subendo la 8th Street e la St. Mark's Place a Manhattan, subito dopo l'arrivo di catene commerciali come The Gap (abbigliamento, seconda al mondo solo a Zara)...

Australian governments ask Indigenous people to tell them how to address the issues caused by dispossession. Patiently, Indigenous Australians consult widely and then make specific suggestions. Inevitably governments procrastinate and fail to act on these proposals. The latest of these the Statement from the Heart, delivered at Uluru, which emphasised the need for a Treaty, Truth and a Voice, is suffering the same fate as previous reports.

The song, which peaked at number 11 in the UK charts, became a worldwide sensation and the unofficial anthem for coal miners everywhere.

La canzone, famosissima e un classico danzereccio, può essere interpretata come la storia degli afro-americani portati come schiavi dall'Africa negli Stati Uniti e costretti a lavorare in catene cantando per mantenere il ritmo, senza mai fermarsi. Ma la musica era anche uno dei pochissimi spazi di libertà, quando in Louisiana gli schiavi neri si ritrovavano la domenica sera per cantare e ballare e mantenere la loro cultura d'origine africana.
Allo stesso tempo si potrebbe riferire all'industria musicale che produce idoli in serie schiavi del ritmo delle loro canzoni, o più in generale al modello di lavoro capitalistico.
