Rimasta inedita a lungo, è stata eseguita pubblicamente la prima volta il 30 agosto 1979, a cura di Enrico de Angelis e grazie alla disponibilità del fratello di Tenco, Valentino, al Teatro del Casino Municipale di Sanremo, nel corso di un Ricordo di Boris Vian tenuto nell’ambito della 6a Rassegna della canzone d’autore organizzata dal Club Tenco.
Il testo di Tenco era già stato pubblicato, invece, in un periodico del Club Tenco di Venezia, nel lontano 1969.

Un'altra recente parodia del "Déserteur", scritta in occasione delle elezioni presidenziali del 2002 e del conseguente passaggio del nazista Jean-Marie Le Pen al ballottaggio. Come tutti sanno, ne risultò un plebiscito per Jacques Chirac, candidato della "destra istituzionale".
Another recent parody of "Le Déserteur" was composed on the Presidential election in France (April 21, 2002), that saw the personal success of the extreme right candidate Jean-Marie Le Pen, and the exclusion from ballotage of the socialist candidate Lionel Jospin. As everyone knows, president Chirac was re-elected also thanks to the votes of the leftist electors, mobilising unwillingly to avoid election of a definitely Nazi candidate.

Se souvenant du roma d'Yves Gibeau 'Allons z'enfants' paru en 1952, il serait inconvenant de se poser la question du rapport pouvant exister entre ces deux œuvres. En effet, Boris Vian a revendiqué la filiation de sa chanson avec le best-seller de son ami et voisin Gibeau en la sous-titrant 'petite marche gibaldienne' et en la signant 'Simon Chalumot, pcc Boris Vian'. A été remise en musique par Mouloudji et Assayag et enregistrée par le premier d'entre eux.
