This tune is from the recently released third album, Let’s All Go to Mars, by the Australian independent rock band. Composed by band member Dean Lombard, he made the following statement concerning the jangly protest song: “I wrote this after the Manus Island Detention Centre was invaded by a violent mob after the Australian Government closed and abandoned it in October 2017. Their inhumane treatment of refugees and asylum seekers in the 21st Century was a stark contrast with the period up to the 1980s, when Australia welcomed people fleeing violence and seeking a new life. I was reminded of this contrast regularly, as I would often ride my bike past the mural of former PM Malcolm Fraser, commissioned by members of the local Vietnamese community in appreciation for Australia accepting so many refugees from the Vietnam War. We used to be the right place for people who needed a safe place to escape to, but not anymore.”

est le voyage d’exploration en Zinovie, entrepris par Marco Valdo M. I. et Lucien l’âne, à l’imitation de Carl von Linné en Laponie et de Charles Darwin autour de notre Terre et en parallèle à l’exploration du Disque Monde longuement menée par Terry Pratchett.
La Zinovie, selon Lucien l’âne, est ce territoire mental où se réfléchit d’une certaine manière le monde. La Zinovie renvoie à l’écrivain, logicien, peintre, dessinateur, caricaturiste et philosophe Alexandre Zinoviev et à son abondante littérature.

Olympe de Gouges, nata Marie Gouze a Montauban il 7 maggio 1748, fu una delle voci più coraggiose e lucide della Rivoluzione francese. Drammaturga e attivista, mise la sua penna al servizio della libertà e dell’uguaglianza, in un’epoca che concedeva ben poco spazio alle donne.

Nel 1788 pubblicò le Réflexions sur les hommes nègres, un testo con cui denunciava la schiavitù e difendeva la dignità dei popoli africani ridotti in catene. Tre anni dopo, nel 1791, scrisse la Dichiarazione dei diritti della donna e della cittadina, rivendicando per le donne gli stessi diritti politici e sociali degli uomini.

Il 3 novembre 1793 venne ghigliottinata per essersi opposta all’esecuzione di Luigi XVI e per aver criticato il Comitato di Salute Pubblica.

The four of us acutely understand this song, and you can say it’s in two halves. It’s a furious cry against the impact of late-stage capitalism and the wealth of the one percent on global society.

The first half is the narrator/us/the listener experiencing anger and frustration at the discourse right now. The lyrics refer to multibillionaires and oligarchical figures like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg. All these people have so much power and can control what we see in our lives.

The fact that these people have so much power and wealth has created a tension that’s boiling. A lot of the first half of the song alludes to that, along with war as well. That same type of greed can arise in our politicians who are, alarmingly, quite open with it. America is profiting from selling weapons to Israel who are butchering Palestine.
