Outside
![Outside](img/upl/George-Michael-Outside.jpg)
1998 Ladies & Gentlemen: The Best of George Michael

American Blood

[2008]
Lyrics & Music by Willy Braun
Album: Bulletproof
"American Blood" is a song by Texan Red Dirt band Reckless Kelly, for their fifth 2008 studio album, Bulletproof.
When writing the song, lead singer Willy Braun "knew some people were not going to like it". He pleads, however, that people understand that "is not an attack on them or their sons and daughters in the military, but an attempt to shed light on the cold hard truth that not everything about this war makes sense". He also comments that "there are some people in Washington making a lot of money on this war at the expense of the 30,000+ American soldiers who have been killed or injured on the frontlines."
Nick Spitzer, host of the radio program American Routes, said "'American Blood' could be the song that legitimizes critiquing America while loving the country." About the song's meaning, Allmusic notes that "People end... (continuer)

Album: Liberty
"Who's the Enemy?"
Taking it's chorus from the David Rovics song of the same name , this track examines exactly who and what "the enemy" really is. Is it a person? Or is it something a bit more insidious?
Liberty is the second album from Bay Area anarchist folk-rap collective Beltaine's Fire. The band combines live hip hop, funk, and rock with traditional Irish, Scottish, and Folk to create something utterly original; and delivers it alongside sizzling insightful lyrics that cut to the dark heart of American Imperialism.
This is revolutionary music in every sense of the words.

There are no doubts that Killing an Arab was inspired by the book 'The Stranger' by Camus. However, the song needs to be considered on its own merits. When separated from the book, the lyrics take on very anti-war themes.

(continuer)

“Brecht's 1919 poem "O Fallada, There You Are Hanging: A Horse's Accusation" was written in the context of postwar famine and revolution. It was adapted by Eisler in 1932 for a cabaret revue. Fallada was a horse in a fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. The poem may have been based on news reports of crowds of hungry Berliners carving up the corpses of police horses that had fallen during street fighting.”
