Sfido io che Ugolino ebbe scarso successo al di là di Ma che bella giornata e poco altro!
Troppo originale, troppo avanti, troppo amaro, troppo sarcastico... troppo scomodo.

Copyrighted September 19, 1918. Introduced as “Poor Little Me” in the Ziegfeld Follies of 1918. Sung by sergeant Irving Berlin and chorus in Yip, Yip, Yaphank.
The songs is a bit of an enigma for us as finding a copy with a cover image has proven to be an endless quest. Even searching library collections as far away as the Australian National Library has left us empty handed. Aside from its connection to Yip, Yip, there seems to be little information available to tell us more about the song. Therefore, we shall let the song's lyrics speak for themselves.
The lament of the soldier assigned to KP (Kitchen helper, usually perceived as punishment) has been the source of a great deal of military humor.
Once again, it was Irving Berlin who first introduced us to the misery of K.P...

Album: Greendale

Fa parte di un concept album/film (proposto anche negli USA come spettacolo teatrale) in cui alla voce degli attori sono sostituiti i brani di (e cantati tutti da) Neil Young. Ne è uscita anche una versione a fumetti curata da Joshua Dysart e Cliuff Chiang. E' una storia dolceamara sul raggiungimento della consapevolezza sociale ed ambientale negli USA pervasi dall’atmosfera di insicurezza del post 11 settembre 2001 e alle soglie di una nuova guerra. Sun Green (18 anni), la protagonista e nipote del fondatore della comunità di Greendale, come le donne della sua famiglia ha una strana connessione con la Natura. Nel giorno in cui dall’altra parte del mondo comincia la guerra, a Greendale arriva uno straniero che solo lei riesce a vedere, che promette di distruggere tutto ciò cui lei tiene...A mio avviso questo brano, contro la guerra alla Natura, è significativo anche se estrapolato dal concept album. E' quello che lo conclude.

Quasi finita questa tediosa giornata del Primo Maggio, appena movimentata, a Torino, da qualche sano scontro con le forze dell’ordine e qualche sacrosanto fischio a Fassino, e in provincia de L’Aquila, purtroppo, dall’ennesima morte bianca, un operaio romeno di 51 anni - si chiamava Vasile Copil - caduto da un’impalcatura mentre lavorava nel giorno della festa dei lavoratori...

“Ma che bella giornata! ‘Vogliamoci bene!’, dicono tutti, però l’indomani ci sono più lutti... mi illudo che vivo ed invece son morto...”, cantava il buon Ugolino...

On January 15, 1919 Rosa Luxemburg
and Karl Liebknecht were captured by the Freikorps Garde-Kavallerie-Schützendivision.
Rosa Luxemburg was rifle-butted, then shot in the head, and her body was thrown into Berlin's Landwehr Canal. Karl Liebknecht was shot in the Tiergarten and his "anonymous" body was brought to a mortuary.
The German revolution was in this way terminated..
More than four months after the murders, on 1 June 1919, Rosa Luxemburg's corpse was found and identified after an autopsy at the Berlin Charité hospital..
