Anche in questo caso si parla di guerra, ma non fatevi ingannare dalla vivace melodia, i toni sono tutt'altro che ottimistici...

"Strange Meeting" is a poem by Wilfred Owen which deals with the atrocities of World War I. It was written sometime in 1918 and it was published in 1919 after Owen's death. The poem is narrated by a soldier who goes to the underworld to escape the hell of the battlefield and meets there, the enemy soldier he killed the day before. This poem has been called as one of Owen's "most haunting and complex war poems".

E’ una delle canzoni più cantate nelle carceri italiane. Segnalata da diversi informatori, questa riprodotta è stata comunicata da Alberto Ongaro che fu un prigione nel 1943 a Venezia, perchè membro attivo della Resistenza. Riferisce Ongaro che nelle carceri di S. Maria Maggiore questa versione era popolarissima e che la cantavano anche i gondolieri. Il testo è tipico delle canzoni di carcere, ma il ritornello riprende moduli tipici di stornellata toscana
