Ho tradotto "μουτζουρώνουν/mugiurònoun" con "mandano maledizioni": ma in realtà la "μούντζα/ mungia" è un'espressione non verbale, ma gestuale, e sicuramente proviene da un uso bizantino, anche se io ho il sospetto, sulla scorta di alcune sculture arcaiche, che sia assai più antica. Essa consiste nel protendere il braccio, o anche solo l'avambraccio, allargando quanto più possibile le dita della mano verso la persona, l'animale, l'oggetto o anche il fantasma che si vuole maledire o respingere. Imparala qui, ma in Grecia non usarla a vanvera: Μούντζα.

Vitti na crozza
La teoria del "cannuni" a mio parere non ha senso, non è avvalorata da nessun'altro concetto del testo. E' ai miei orecchi chiaro che chi parla è un vecchio di 80 anni che visto riflesso il suo volto in uno specchio, smunto dal tempo si chiede dove sia finita la sua vita, la sua gioventù e la "morte senza tocco di campane" è la sua morte come uomo a causa della sua estrema vecchiaia e dell'incapacità che questa porta, quindi morto, ma ancora in vita.

Mi sono messo a cercare in AWS e in You Tube le canzoni repubblicane, quelle che conoscevo ai miei vent'anni. Forse ne manca una, che mi insegnò personalmente il garibaldino Giuseppe Alberganti, ferroviere, che, dopo la Spagna, fu il comandante della piazza di Milano che diresse l'insurrezione del 25 Aprile, e poi fu dirigente comunista a Milano, e poi fu mandato a quel paese dal partito per il suo irriducibile, diciamo così, cominformismo, e infine fu presidente del movimento studentesco milanese. Lo chiamavano Diamante per i suoi bianchi e lucenti capell, di cui fin da giovane andò fiero. La canzone è quella della Dodicesima Brigata mista Garibaldi. L'ho trovata in You Tube e non in AWS. Rosso sopra verde è la mia divisa potrebbe sembrare un libro fuori moda. Fuori moda perché parla di canzone antimilitarista e perché in una società che aspira sempre più al patinato – una società dai successi facili e senza troppi grattacapi - lanciare degli “allerta” alle coscienze, attraverso le canzoni del passato, potrebbe risultare superato, quasi autolesionista...
Chi ha fatto questo tipo di scelta comunicativa, ha messo in conto lo scotto della solitudine. Sta nel gioco delle parti: spesso ci si sente isolati. Pochissimi interlocutori, una marea di distratti. Ballata del piccolo An
una Poesia...una delle più belle canzoni che abbia mai ascoltato! Arriva dritta al cuore con la sua dolcezza sciogliendomi il sangue ma allo stesso tempo te lo gela giungendoti alla mente e disegnandomi in maniera nitida l'immagine di quel Vietnam brutalizzato ma eroico, capace di resistere e vincere.
Una canzone capace di smuoverti dal profondo suscitando rabbia, indignazione, speranza, empatia, fiducia e speranza.
Bellissima l'antitesi di fondo tra la cosa più ignobile prodotta dall'umanità (la guerra) e quella più dolce (l'infanzia).

Questa ballata sulla deportazione di un prigioniero inglese nella colonia penale australiana di Botany Bay, Sidney, è una versione, scritta presumibilmente subito dopo il 1830 (anno in cui fu ucciso il celebre bushranger Jack Donahue citato nella canzone) di una canzone risalente al 18° secolo e di cui vi è traccia in diverse broadside dell’epoca con il titolo “Botany Bay”
Il testo ottocentesco compare per la prima volta in “Old Pioneering Days in the Sunny South”, libro di memorie di tal Charles Macalister, capo mandriano nel New South Wales, pubblicato nel 1907.

Aggiungerei che la versione dei Led Zeppelin musicalmente nasce dal sapiente “saccheggio” e “riciclaggio” (così è, anche se qualcuno preferisce usare sostantivi come “tributo” od “omaggio”) che loro e tanti altri artisti bianchi di ieri e di oggi (dai Rolling Stones a Moby) hanno sempre fatto della musica nera. Come dimenticare infatti che la “Gallows Pole” zeppeliana è una cover della “Gallis Pole” Huddie Ledbetter, detto Leadbelly?

Sink the Bismark
"Sink the Bismark" (later "Sink the Bismarck") is a march song by country music singer Johnny Horton and songwriter Tillman Franks, based on the pursuit and eventual sinking of the German battleship Bismarck in May 1941, during World War II. Horton released this song through Columbia Records in 1960, when it reached #3 on the charts. As originally released, the record label used the common misspelling "Bismark"; this error was corrected for later releases of the song. It was inspired by the 1960 British war movie Sink the Bismarck! and was in fact (with the producer John Brabourne's approval) commissioned from Johnny Horton by 20th Century Fox who were worried about the subject's relative obscurity. Ma il cielo è sempre più blu
Salve scusi se glielo lo faccio notare ma sul testo lei ha scritto più volte: "chi ODIA Baglioni". Un’altra canzone, insieme a Ain't No More Cane on the Brazos e Go Down Old Hannah, che certamente Leadbelly imparò in prigione, nel Texas, nei sette anni che si fece per omicidio. Ecco perché la canzone Ain't No More Cane on the Brazos viene comunemente – ed erronemente – attribuita al grande Leadbelly: perché questa sua “Go Down Old Hannan”, come spesso accade nella tradizione orale, ha un testo del tutto simile. E d’altra parte Leadbelly doveva ben conoscere come è duro tagliare tutto il giorno la canna sotto l’Old Hannah, il sole cocente del Texas, visto che nella prison farm di Sugar Land, vicino a Houston, ci passò 7 anni per aver ucciso un uomo nel 1918…
Ovviamente, anche nel caso di questa canzone – la cui esistenza è nota almeno dal 1901, anno in cui fu trascritta da tal Benjamin Albert Botkin - le versioni sono tantissime e molto diverse fra loro.

Ho attribuito ad Odetta questa prison song texana risalente agli anni 30 perchè, a differenza di quanto comunemente si ritiene, la canzone non fa parte del repertorio di Leadbelly. A parte la registrazione originale, l’incisione più risalente nel tempo mi pare quindi quella di Odetta, seguita poi da molti altri e in molte versioni differenti, da Bernice Reagon a Guy Carawan, da Lonnie Donegan al Chad Mitchell Trio passando per Bob Dylan & The Band, da Ian Gillan ai Son Volt, dai Black Crowes a Lyle Lovett e altri ancora.

Vi è mai capitato, in uno dei nostri opulenti, luccicanti e straripanti supermercati, di assistere al fermo di una donna che ha cercato di rubare da mangiare? A me è capitato di recente, e la signora aveva anche due bambini appresso… Ho provato la sua umiliazione e la sua disperazione…
Uno dei tanti aspetti della “Guerra dei Centomila Anni che i ricchi conducono contro i poveri”, come direbbe il nostro Marco Valdo M.I.…
In aggiunta, una delle tante prove dell’inesistenza di Dio.
Ricordo al proposito una bellissima citazione di Heinrich Heine che il buon Venturi fece prima di mandare a fare in culo, giustamente esasperato, una tal “celestiale maria Rosaria”:
“Maledetto il buon Dio! Noi lo pregammo
nelle misere fami, nei freddi inverni;
lo pregammo, e sperammo, ed aspettammo:
egli, il buon Dio, ci saziò di scherni.”

Non solo gli operai e i minatori. Anche gli impiegati hanno le loro pene.
Insuperabili furono quelle del famoso poeta Kostas Karyotakis (Tripoli di Arcadia, 1896 - Preveza, 1928) che nei suoi impieghi ministeriali (Prefetture, Sanità e Previdenza) nella più periferica provincia greca vedeva il simbolo del dolore dell'uomo e delle cose. Così, a trentadue anni, si tirò una pistolettata. La sua sodale di scartoffie, di poesia e d'amicizia - forse anche d'amore -, la sensibilissima e malata poetessa Maria Polidouri (1902 - 1930), lo seguì poco dopo nella tomba. La loro... (continuer)
