Scritta e utilizzata per uno spettacolo dei frati cappuccini dell’Emilia Romagna negli anni settanta. In stile “deandreiano”, resta una delle più belle canzoni in assoluto sul tema pace-guerra. Non risulta purtroppo registrata da nessuna parte. L’autore, frate cappuccino, è stato vicedirettore della bellissima rivista “Messaggero Cappuccino” e oggi vive nei campi nomadi della periferia di Bologna.

L'unica pecca - peraltro non lieve - di questo brano estremamente emozionante di Claudio Baglioni consiste nella totale assenza, dai credits dell'album che lo contiene, di un qualsivoglia riferimento all'opera letteraria dalla quale il cantautore romano ha letteralmente "mutuato", per così dire, il brano stesso.
Questa "Gagarin" baglioniana contiene ad ogni modo un riferimento antibellico circoscritto, sì, ma di grande forza, con quel cosmonauta russo dagli occhi limpidi e dal sorriso coraggioso che se ne sta sospeso in orbita - primo uomo nella storia - a rimirare dall'alto dei cieli la nostra piccola Terra e tutto il suo carico di "bugie, volgarità, calunnie, guerre, maschere antigas".

Brano composto da Coltrane nel 1966 dopo la sua visita al Sacrario di guerra a Nagasaki.
Si parla di quella visita e del brano in questa recensione al libro di Wu Ming 1 intitolato "New Thing"
"C’è una foto di John Coltrane scattata nel luglio del 1966 al Parco Memoriale di Guerra a Nagasaki. Il gigante del jazz è assorto, ritratto in preghiera sul luogo in cui, nel 1945, un bombardiere americano sganciò quell’ordigno di morte sinistramente battezzato ‘Fat Man’. Ho pensato a lungo a questa immagine (in realtà mai vista dai miei occhi, poi “ritrovata” nel capitolo 18: L’uomo dei fantasmi), fin da quando nell’ultimo scorcio del 2001 ebbi notizia dell’inizio dei lavori intorno al primo libro ‘solista’ di Wu Ming 1, aka Roberto Bui, membro fondatore del collettivo Wu Ming. Ho appena scoperto questa canzone; il sito AllMusic mi dice che è di McGuinn/Traditional; il sito in cui ho trovato il testo che è di McGuinn/Crosby. Non so dirvi quale sia la versione giusta. La canzone è nell'album "Turn! Turn! Turn!" del 1965 e ve la invio, qualunque sia il mio/vostro giudizio su JFK e sulla violenza dell'assassinio politico.

Baby I'm A Soldier
The son of Egyptian immigrants, Kareem was born and raised in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He spent his childhood immersed in Western United States culture, attending Rodeos and Pow Wows, while simultaneously learning his family's roots in Islam and Arabic culture. With a degree in Chemical Engineering and recenlty finishing Law School, he's on the road promoting his new album, "Generous Peace".
His voice is robust, sexy, and All-American Country soundin'. I love him! His musical sound is open-chord guitar with a lot of grounded piano sound supporting it. His lyrics are not officially "muslim" or "nasheeds" (Islamic gospel songs), but the subject matter is definitely "Halal" (ie for you non-muslims reading this, Halal means religiously permissible, as in the subject matter is about living a good life, it's not about forbidden things and isn't leading the listener to sin - not about adultery, greed, alcohol, or other illicit/amoral activities).

Tragicomica storia d'amore del partigiano Cesare che commette delitto passionale perchè, proprio mentre è in missione, scopre che la sua bella lo tradisce ... e per di più con un fascista :-)
Lo scenario della vicenda - tratteggiato da Jannacci con pochi ed essenziali tocchi - è ad ogni modo precisamente quello della lotta partigiana, sicchè credo che anche questa surreale figura di "fidanzato deluso" rappresenti, a suo modo, una voce capace di unirsi al grande coro di CCG.
La canzone (composta da Enzo Jannacci e Paolo Jannacci) è stata incisa per la prima volta dal cantautore milanese nell'album "Come gli aeroplani" (2001, Ala Bianca):

Il testo è, com'è noto, di Giorgio Strehler, mentre la musica è di Fiorenzo Carpi.
Anche Enzo Jannacci l'ha notoriamente interpretata (in studio e dal vivo) a più riprese, sin dai primi anni Sessanta; la incise, per la prima volta, nel suo primissimo LP, "La Milano di Enzo Jannacci" (Jolly, 1964; ristampato su etichetta Joker nel 1971).
Molto bella la recente versione live di questi ultimi anni, solo con la sua voce e ed il pianoforte suonato dal figlio Paolo. Eccola, a partire dal minuto 49'45'' della prima parte di questo lungo video, relativo al concerto-anteprima dell'album "Milano 3.6.2005" (disco pubblicato da Ala Bianca e contenente 16 rivisitazioni,in chiave più o meno jazzata, di vecchi classici jannacciani in dialetto milanese riarrangiati da Paolo Jannacci e ricantati da Enzo); il concerto si tenne il 22 ottobre 2004 nella Sala A dell'Auditorium RAI di via Asiago:

Rispetto alla versione da studio contenuta nell'album Oltre(il cui testo originario è per l'appunto quello postato nel sito), da molti anni ormai Claudio Baglioni - nelle rarissime occasioni in cui esegue dal vivo questo brano, invero uno dei più intimistici ed introspettivi dell'intera sua produzione, al pari peraltro di diverse altre canzoni di Oltre - cambia regolarmente alcune parole del testo, sì da renderlo più "slegato" dal contesto di quel concept album catartico-autobiografico uscito nel 1990, del quale "Pace è la chiusa.
"Virgilio" è ormai stabimente diventato il più neutro "l'amico".
"Cucaio" è ormai stabilmente diventato il più neutro "fratello".
Chi è (od era) Virgilio?
