Ancora dalla serata di ieri sera a San Salvi, quella della Maremma dei Delsangre. Ciro Lenzi è un ragazzo di Montecatini Terme, che non avevo la fortuna di conoscere. E ribadisco la fortuna. Dice di se stesso, dalla sua pagina MySpace:

Musica di León Gieco
Marcelo Berbel, poeta e cantautore patagonico, dedicò le sue opere a Neuquén, la sua terra, descrivendo la bellezza dei suoi paesaggi, denunciando il genocidio del popolo mapuche e lo sfruttamento delle risorse naturali della Patagonia.
Dopo che León Gieco creò una versione baguala-heavy, la sua opera, "El embudo", fu conosciuta in tutta America.
Baguala significa "selvaggio" in lingua quechua. E' un genere di canto del Nord dell'Argentina che poi si diffuse in tutto il paese. La melodia è costruita su scala trifonica (le note dell'accordo perfetto maggiore o minore). Si accompagna con la "caja" oppurre battendo sulla chitarra.

La più famosa canzone dedicata a Martin Luther King, il leader pacifista per i diritti civili ucciso a Memphis il 4 aprile 1968.
La canzone era stata inizialmente pensata per il presidente degli Stati Uniti, Ronald Reagan, famoso per il suo orgoglio. Dopo alcune riflessioni, Bono, autore del testo, decise di cambiarlo poiché Reagan, a suo dire, non meritava una canzone. Curiosamente, il verso del brano che si riferisce all'assassinio di Martin Luther King (Early morning, April 4/Shot rings out in the Memphis sky, "mattina presto, 4 aprile/si sente uno sparo nel cielo di Memphis") contiene un errore storico, perché King fu assassinato nel pomeriggio (intorno alle ore 19). Bono ha in seguito cercato di correggere l'errore cantando "early evening" anziché "early morning" in molte versioni dal vivo.
Ancora non sappiamo come l'avessimo dimenticata finora, grazie a Roberto Oliva che ci ha fatto notare questa imperdonabile dimenticanza.

Questa canzone è l'ennesimo invito di León a prendere coscienza della situazione, a fare qualcosa, a non lasciare che la storia ci passi accanto e si scriva con il sangue delle persone che la pensano diversamente dal governo, ovviamente fu proibita durante la dittatura militare. [MR]
Racconta León Gieco stesso che, nell'inverno del 1980 il generale Montes, tipico esponente della dittatura militare argentina dell'epoca, lo fece convocare all'improvviso nel suo ufficio del I Corpo dell'Esercito. Alle 7 di mattina, con un vestito prestato dal suo amico Oscar Moro, che gli stava grande, si presentò all'ufficio del generale, che lo minacciò senza tanti preamboli: "Se lei canta ancora questa canzone, "La historia esta", le faccio saltare le cervella io stesso". La canzone dei 99 Posse, "Stop that train", usa la metafora del treno per parlare di guerra e globalizzazione.
Scritta al ritorno dalla "Marcia Per La Dignità Indigena" in Messico contiene una parte di un discorso tenuto dal subcomandante Marcos dell'EZLN.
Con il ritornello sulla musica di Five Hundred Miles
La canzone dei 99 Posse, "Stop that train", usa la metafora del treno per parlare di guerra e globalizzazione.
Scritta al ritorno dalla "Marcia Per La Dignità Indigena" in Messico contiene una parte di un discorso tenuto dal subcomandante Marcos dell'EZLN.
La prima versione del pezzo, che tra l'altro è una cover di Clint Eastwood & General Saint, aveva un testo scherzoso, praticamente la traduzione letterale dell'originale. Mi ricordo che quando ero solamente una fan dei 99 Posse e ballavo sotto il palco, impazzivo per questa canzone. Solo che dopo i fatti di Genova e la morte di Carlo Giuliani non aveva molto senso fare un pezzo leggero, non eravamo dell'umore giusto. In più avevamo voglia di cimentarci con il tema della globalizzazione e ci affascinava rappresentarla in modo ironico, sfruttando anche l’immagine del treno. Alla fine è venuto fuori un pezzo malinconico, come diciamo noi a Napoli: cazzimmoso.

Sotto ogni fascismo, le situazioni sono esattamente le stesse. Attraverso i decenni, il fascismo non cambia e non può cambiare. E' questo che Johnny Clegg manda a dire con questa canzone che parla di tradimento, e di cosa può esservi alla base di un tradimento quando si è nelle mani dei torturatori fascisti. Perché è una canzone ambientata nella Varsavia del 1943 che sottintende quel che accadeva nel Sudafrica razzista dell'apartheid. Luoghi e anni differenti, ma lo stesso fascismo, la stessa tortura, gli stessi sottosuoli delle prigioni, delle caserme, delle stazioni di polizia. Questa canzone parla della storia di Romina Tejerina, una ragazza che è stata violentata ed è rimasta incinta.
Non riuscendo ad abortire poichè l'interruzione della gravidanza in Argentina è illegale, uccise la sua figlioletta subito dopo la nascita, e fu condannata per omicidio volontario.
Il suo presunto aggressore, Emilio Vargas, fu scarcerato dopo 23 giorni per mancanza di prove.
Vargas querellò León Gieco per aver fatto, con la sua canzone, apologia del delitto. Fortunatamente Gieco fu assolto dai giudici in quanto la libertà di espressione è uno dei fondamentali pilastri della democrazia ed ogni individuo ha diritto ad esprimere la sua opinione e diffonderla, in questo caso attraverso la musica, senza essere turbato per le proprie opinioni.

Mi sono dimenticata di scrivere il commento...comunque volevo allacciarla alla violenza sulle donne, agli stupri a Darfur e alla campagna di Amnesty International per garantire i diritti all'aborto in caso di stupro.

Un invito anche a non voltare le spalle ad una popolazione che ha dei bisogni immediati, cibo, cure e medicine e a non pensare che il Darfur sia un posto tanto lontano da casa... visto che è "il mondo" la nostra "casa".

Truth is, there is no explanation for the Rwandan genocide. What there is in abundance, however, is ignorance. If these songs make just one person dig a little deeper, then we've made our money back, so to speak. We've touched upon specific pieces of the horror, but don't even pretend to be able to understand it from the Rwandan point of view. We're observers from afar. Al signor Venturi andrebbe passata la sveglia perchè evidentemente dorme, come la stragrande maggioranza dei suoi "correligionari". Parlare di un presunto coinvolgimento di Morsello nella strage di Bologna, stanti gli atti processuali, è lesivo della sua dignità ancor più delle parole da trivio usate dal Venturi, che manifesta (su un sito peraltro "pacifista") ben scarsa considerazione per la vita ed altrettanto scarso rispetto per la morte.
Le auguro che i suoi figli non si imbattano un domani (come potrebbero fare i figli di Massimo Morsello oggi) nel web in un altro Venturi aduso a sputare fiele sulla sua memoria.

No hace mucho en Chile el latifundista no sólo era dueño de la tierra sino de sus peones a los cuales trataba a patadas y arrastraba a su cama a las hijas de estos, -muchachas dulces que se casaban mañana-, cobrando el asqueroso “derecho a pernada”.El cobre, el “Sueldo de Chile” como lo llamaba el presidente Allende, era robado por el gringo corsario, pero llegó el Doctor y “mandó a parar”, aunque todavía hacen nata los escamoteadores que se resisten a pagar royalties.
Bajo dictadura, la brutalidad milica no sólo destrozaba los pocos enseres del obrero, sino violaba a sus hijas y asesinaba a diestra y siniestra por el gusto de hacerlo ¡No me vengan a mí ahora a cantar villancicos!; lo de Antuco fue mandar a la muerte a los hijos del pobre, así inermes y ateridos de frío. La tomo su deferencia y atencion a mi humilde comunicado y mensaje que tube a bien señalarle con anterioridad, su agradecimiento me engrandece y me hace sentirme muy grato, por su educacion y fineza de considerarme parte de su movimiento pacifista y tan respetado en todo el orbe, si bien es un esfuerzo humanista, es tambien un gran papel el que usted desarrolla junto con su equipo de trabajo, y aqui en estas latitudes del globo terraque existimos gentes que le respetamos y le estimamos,y tambien existen causa que estamos respaldando de personas que tambien estan comprometidas con las ideas de justicia de libertad y de paz.
