Eugène Pottier fu frequentatore di circoli rivoluzionari repubblicani già dal 1832 per poi approdare a quelli socialisti e fourieristi nel 1848, anno in cui partecipò alle rivoluzioni di gennaio e giugno: fu in questo periodo, frequentando anche i locali dove venivano declamate poesie e canzoni, che inizia a comporre canti di propaganda a sfondo politico-sociale stampati e diffusi su fogli volanti.

Tra i tanti testi è degno di nota quel “Propaganda delle canzoni” che rappresentava, all’epoca, il suo manifesto politico: In tempo di pace, l’esercito è una morsa / Nelle mani di chi governa, / Per serrare la gogna al collo / Del popolo senza giberne. / ... Moby & Public Enemy

“MKLVFKWR"— aka "Make Love, Fuck War"— is a collaboration between Public Enemy and electronic musician Moby. Originally released as a standalone single in 2004, Public Enemy made it the fifth track on their 2005 album New Whirl Odor.

Originally recorded for a compilation tie-in with the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, when the anti-war sentiments of the track became known, it was cut loose and released as a single. Of the track’s origin, Moby said:

[The producers of the Olympics album] approached me and asked if I’d like to do something with Public Enemy. Back when I used to DJ in the mid- to late-Eighties, I played Public Enemy all the time. I’ve been a fan of theirs since forever, so of course I said yes.

C'était une petite chanson d'un très sérieux folkloriste florentin, Riccardo Marasco, qui s'amuse parfois à écrire des chansons rigolotes (et un peu blasphématoires) qui sont très connues à Florence. Mais il a écrit un petit chef-d'œuvre, La capannuccia, qui parle de la naissance de Notre Seigneur; et comme Noël s'approche et les supermarchés ont déjà remplacé les courges d'Halloween ("on va faire des courges à Auchan", dit-on avant la Toussaint) par des étoiles, j'ai cru bon d'adapter cette chanson en français pour que nos amis Hexagonaux aussi puissent savoir toute la vérité sur ce qu'il va se passer le prochain 24 décembre.

La canzone è stata scritta da Jello Biafra (al secolo Eric Reed Boucher, classe 1958), già front man dei mitici Dead Kennedys, il quale nella sua successiva carriera si è accompagnato a molti artisti, tra cui i canadesi D.O.A.

Nacque nel 1921, composta da Fritz Sotke originariamente per la Jugendbewegung, il movimento giovanile tedesco; divenne subito assai popolare in Germania. Sotke, che di mestiere faceva l'insegnante di materie commerciali nei licei e che scriveva canzoni per diletto, nel 1932 entrò nella NSDAP (il partito nazista, per chi non lo sapesse) scrivendo immediatamente uno die principali canti a onore e gloria di Hitler, il Lied der neuen Zeit („Canto del tempo nuovo“). "Questa lirica divenne una delle più famose canzoni contro la guerra. Ernst Busch, l'attore ed interprete più famoso delle canzoni di Bertolt Brecht, Erich Weinert e Erich Mühsam (musica di Hanns Eisler) ricorda: 'Lavoravo nel 1917 nei cantieri navali, quando un giorno un mio compagno di lavoro mi fece vedere una copia del giornale Leipziger Volkszeitung con il Canto dei Soldati di Erich Mühsam.
