We can also note that a verse (Personne ne m'a demandé / D'où je viens et où je vais...) is missing in Cohen's version compared to the original. Joan Baez sings it in her performances
Leonard sung it during his Warsaw gig in 1985, the last verse in French ("effacez mon passage").
Joan also changed one verse, changing "I took my gun and vanished" to "Into the hills I vanished"; it is not surprising that our "Peace struggle passionnaria" threw that "gun" away.
(The Song Of The French Partisan).

"Note: Bashar Barrishi writes the translating "salam" as "salute", as is done above, is possible, but in this case it means "peace" in this context. When reading the translation "salute" feels better to me than "peace", so for now I keep "salute"." from this page
PACE PACE PACE
ciao auguri e saluti

But now the families are taking on their newest and possibly most daunting challenge: to make common cause with thousands of other international victims, not only to foster mutual support, but also to discredit global terrorism itself.
Some have already proffered aid and expertise to victims' groups from other countries. Others believe that by doggedly continuing to tell their heartbreaking stories of pain and remembrance, they can put a human face on those who have died.
