According to 'Everybody Says Freedom: A History of the Civil Rights Movement in Songs and Pictures' by Pete Seeger this was created by Len Chandler for a 1965 commemoration in NYC of the failed raid on the military arsenal Harpers Ferry in 1859. The song mentions leader of the attack John Brown, who picked up arms in order to defend fugitive slaves. He was arrested, convicted of treason and hanged.

Quando compose il rock I am Pegasus, il cantautore Ross Ryan non intendeva avventurarsi in un’ulteriore narrazione del mito del cavallo alato né farsi cogliere da un raptus di prefigurazione in anticipo di mezzo secolo. Semplicemente Ross volle divertirsi in modo originale escogitando un nesso tra il suo nome, che nell’Europa germanofona vuol dire cavallo, e l’esperienza di un volo aereo marcato dalla disavventura delle sue avances verso una fatina in divisa da hostess che lo respinse seccamente. La canzone ebbe enorme successo in Australia per un anno.

3 luglio 1971: le luci si spengono e la musica finisce. Il corpo senza vita di Jim Morrison, 27 anni, viene ritrovato in un appartamento di Rue Beautreillis a Parigi dove il cantante cercava tranquillità lontano dalle folle di Hollywood e dall'attenzione mediatica.

A cinquant'anni di distanza ci possiamo legittimamente chiedere cosa sia rimasto dell'artista e del poeta Morrison, al di là della mitizzazione che tocca a tutte le star morte giovani in circostanze tragiche, al di là dell'icona trasgressiva ma un po' stereotipata descritta dal film di Oliver Stone.

Little Arab girl is a song that Mai Khalil a Syrian born, London living singer wrote about the troubles of displaced refugees and the suffering that is being caused all over the world by war and other issues outside of their control. We can all relate and empathise with the troubles of others if we just take the time to consider "what if that was us" "what if the war was here happening to us?"

We hope that this song and video helps to bring us all closer to each other in understanding the harsh reality of other people's lives....

Vengono citate Jayne Mansfield, attrice di successo che parlava cinque lingue, suonava violino e pianoforte ma che viene ricordata per le sue foto provocanti su playboy e per la sua tragica morte, Joni Mitchell, Marylin Monroe, Tori Amos che ha avuto il coraggio di denunciare la violenza subita nella canzone Me and a Gun, e la grande Nina Simone a partire dalla sua prima e più celebre canzone di protesta, Mississippi Goddam.

Campi inaugurati dal premio nobel per la pace Obama, anche se la detenzione era inizialmente per periodi limitati, ma che hanno raggiunto il loro apice durante l'amministrazione Trump. All'ex presidente va anche addebitata la pratica orribile di separare i figli dai genitori, fatto a cui fa riferimento la canzone di Vic Mensa.
