Musique du compositeur germano-américain Gershon Kingsley, tirée de son œuvre théâtrale et musicale intitulée Voices From The Shadow, réalisée en 1997 et publiée en 2005.
Carlo et Erika Taube, juifs, autrichiens, ont été déportés à Theresienstadt en 1941 avec leurs enfants. À Terezín, Carlo fut le chef passionné de l'orchestre du camp, en plus de donner d'innombrables concerts de piano solo. Erika écrivit des poèmes, que son mari mit parfois en musique (Ein jüdisches Kind). En octobre 1944, Carlo, Erika et leurs enfants ont été transférés à Auschwitz, où ils ont été immédiatement assassinés.
What's common between this quinquagenarian song and Bundestag speech of Daniel Granin ?
Both awed the audience, both were unheard by the rulers. Litterateur Granin described his childhood in the city blocked by nazy troops during WWII. 20 months of courage and high moral in the siege. Russian historian received a standing ovation from the German Parliament, tears in their eyes. Because they learned the truth from the other side for the first time.
Although the song about their fathers was translatеd into many languages for its sincerity.

Translator’s note. This is a strictly literal translation of the song. In the motion picture The Zone of Interest, only a part of the song is heard while being played on the piano by the Polish young girl. There’s a rather free and artistic version of the verses in the subtitles, given here in a footnote.

Nel film la canzone è solo strumentale. La ragazza polacca ritrova fortunosamente lo spartito e suona la melodia al pianoforte. Le parole tradotte liberamente appaiono nei sottotitoli.
Io, invece, ho corretto un verso che avevo capito male: da Shnayen vays farshtiln un zamn a Shnayen vays faln shtil un zanft "bianche nevi cadono quiete e lievi [leggere / morbide ecc.]". Di conseguenza, ho adattato tutte le traduzioni presenti nella pagina. Mi scuso per questo fraintendimento.
