Volantino poi riciclato e riproposto negli anni successivi e - purtroppo - tragicamente ancora attuale.
Vittime dell’indifferenza, dell’edonismo consumista e dell’antropocentrismo
Gianni Sartori
Lascio ogni altra cosa e parto in quarta...
Last but not least , confidavo nel tuo intervento , sentivo che il pezzo ti avrebbe sollecitato.
(continuer)
Chanson allemande – Freiheit in ketten – Erich Mühsam – 1928 (Sammlung 1898-1928, Berlin (J. M. Späth-Verlag), 1928.

Prison Worksongs
Recorded by Dr. Harry Oster at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola, La. and other locations, mostly in 1959.
This is a slow-drag worksong, used for hoeing or cane-cutting. It is a variant of "Makes a Long Time Man Feel Bad." which Alan Lomax collected in the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman in 1947. About twenty-five years old, James Russell is one of the rare young prisoners who sing worksongs. Generally only those who are forty or over sing them.

Album : Negro Prison Blues And Songs Recorded live at the Mississippi and Louisiana State Penitentiaries by Alan Lomax ( 1947/1948 )
Testo e nota pubblicati da Genius.
Lomax wrote:
"The relative age of this prison song is attested by its references to the Gulf and Ship Island R.R., which construction was begun in Gulf-port, Mississippi, in 1887. The line was extended through the piney woods country to Jackson, probably with the aid of leased convict labor. In 1925, the road was absorbed by the Illinois Central System. At points in this rendition the men sing different verses over one another, indicating the existence of a number of versions, and making the lines at times unintelligible ".

Take This Hammer,
Guitar Welch, lead; Hagman Maxey, and Andy Mosely.
In his usually eloquent and colorful way, Roosevelt Charles described the sort of situation which must have originally goaded a prisoner into making up this song: "This was when the train was rollin' down the track of Angola. They had a railroad runnin' around about. They had a railroad gang there and they had quite a few hammers on the line. There was a boy he had been roll and roll, sometime he'd be up through the night through the day. The sun was shinin' hot in the month of August you know that it's a very hot month. An' the sweat was beginnin' to roll along and he call the water boy and the water boy he refuse. He call for the boss and the boss turned his back. So the boy he laid his hammer on the spike and he begin to strike on the spike and these are the words he said:
ANGOLA BOUND - Traditional prison song.
Note di Azizi Powell.
Here are my notes/explanations about some words in the song "Angola Bound":
"Oh so many mornings by the ding dong ding" = "ding dong ding" imitates the sound a ticking clock makes [which doesn't mean he has a clock there, He remembers that sound; "ding dong day" is or was a commonly said phrase.]
"Oh I go to the mess hall, buddy, I get the same old thing" = The mess hall means the place where people eat, the cafeteria. Soldiers also call where they eat the mess hall. He's saying that it's always the same food.
"Boss Charlie" and "Captain" are general referents for the prison guards.
"Oh Lord, I’m comin with the plow get gone
So many years without water it just rollin hard"
= If this transcription is correct, I believe it means that he's coming as soon as he can get the plow to move, but the ground is so hard because of... (continuer)

Well now, I'm an ex-convict and veteran of ten years spent in maximum-security Louisiana prisons and let me tell you, this song is as real as it gets.
A few minor details:
"You been a long time coming but you're welcome home...."
This is the Louisiana traditional gut-punch greeting old convicts give to the new guys who just got off the bus: "Welcome home." Believe me, the first time you hear that, it crushes you.
"Eat my breakfast by the light of the moon."
