Un'introduzione all'album si trova nel commento alla prima canzone, The Post-War Dream.

"Southampton Dock" is a song from Pink Floyd's 1983 album, The Final Cut. While never performed live by the band, it has often been featured in Roger Waters's live shows, most often in a medley with "Get Your Filthy Hands Off My Desert," also from The Final Cut. It was featured in such a medley in Waters's live DVD In the Flesh Live. The song was also played on Waters' 2006-2007 The Dark Side of the Moon Live tour.

They disembarked in '45
And no one spoke and no one smiled
There were too many spaces in the line
They gathered at the Cenotaph
And all agreed with hands on heart
To sheath the sacrificial knives
But now she stands upon Southampton Dock
With her handkerchief and her summer frock
Clings to her wet body in the rain
In quiet desperation
Kuckles white against the slippery reins
She bravely waves the boys goodbye again
And still the dark stain spreads between
their shoulder blades
A mute reminder
of the poppy fields and graves
And when the fight was over
we spent what they had made
But in the bottom of our hearts
We felt the final cut

Versione italiana tratta da Pink Floyd Sound
IL MOLO DI SOUTHAMPTON

Sbarcarono nel '45
E nessuno parlava e nessuno rideva
Sui fianchi umidi
