Andrea Rock & the Rebel Poets

The countess of Sligo
One thing in abundance
Her courage, her passion
Clothed as with a garment
Not in the name of my father
Neither the girl of my mother
I remain a rebel,
Drop your jewels and buy a gun
Here’s my letters for my people
As they guard me through the peephole
Fellas, I’m a pacifist
They forced me into war
If this country is not made free
I will face the tiranny
Light my up my cigarette
With boots beneath my skirt

It’s the aim that made my path
I reject my role, my class
not a convict in exiled ...and I know
For this dream, I don’t keep quite
Brothers in arms,
Older and young
Load up your guns
Dear land thou art not conquered yet
I went out to fight
I did what was right
been sentenced to life
Burn everything British, but their coal
