Oberwart

"Phurde, Bajval, Phurde" by Ruža Nikolić-Lakatos is dedicated to the victims of the attack in Oberwart, Austria. Peter Sárközi, Josef Simon and Karl and Erwin Horvath, four Roma men, were killed by a pipe bomb by the nationalist right-wing terrorist Franz Fuchs on the night of February 4th to 5th, 1995 - they should not be forgotten.

WEHE, WIND, WEHE

Wehe, Wind, wehe
die Blätter von den Bäumen,
dass die vier Romaburschen
zugedeckt werden.

Am Sonntag früh
erhielten wir die Nachricht,
dass vier Romaburschen
durch eine Bombe getötet worden sind.

Viele kleine Kinder
sind zurückgeblieben,
arm und allein,
die Kinder und die Familien.

Gott, großer Gott,
warum hast du zugelassen,
dass die Gadje [1] die jungen
Burschen umgebracht haben.

Großer Gott,
ich bitte dich von ganzem Herzen,
hilf den vielen Roma
und gib uns Frieden.

Hilf, Gott, allen Roma
auf der ganzen Welt.
