"A true story that tells what happened on the war front on Christmas eve of 1914/1915 between Italians and Austrians. The scene takes place on Mount Col del Rosso, near Mount Grappa: the Italians went out on patrol and, when they found the enemy behind them, they resigned themselves to the tragedy. By a miracle, the Austrians decided to leave their weapons and exchange with the Italians the sign of PEACE."
WAR NIGHT

White are the valleys, boots sinking in snow,
Steps are heard in the night, I hope I don't meet them
Among woodpaths and bent branches
It's only their steps you can hear

He says “he's born”, but I don't understand
It's midnight, and maybe all villagers are in church
When we notice sort of cave sheltered from borderline front

We warm our hands in the cave
I put my gun aside, I'm already praying
Candles and mortars the night when birth is due

A clod of earth in my hands
A newborn baby giving warmth in the frost
A clod of earth in my hands
A piece of my heart is coming back home

There are my friends home, and I remember them all
I'm thinking of my wife and chase away all ill feelings
It almost seems we aren't soldiers

But fate may be really evil sometimes
I pray the Lord above that I am still alive
The enemy's coming behind us, we're already in sight

I am so tired and feeling death
But the enemies
Unexpectedly lay their guns aside, it's a miracle,
This night, the war is bound to lose against the Lord

A clod of earth in my hands
A newborn baby warming in the frost
A clod of earth in my hands
A piece of my heart is coming back home

That's the story of night when all was covered in white,
The history of a war that was lost in books
No winner, no loser anymore now
But respect and love among men.
