Kessuru yōshō Iō Jima

Ware-ra kono ji ni aru kagiri
Hondo wa yasushi eien ni
Nippon danji no na o toshite
Kunan ni kachite mamori nuku
Homare mo takaki Iō Jima.


[2] E’ il termine d’uso corrente in giapponese per indicare il Giappone. L’altro termine Nippon è formale, usato nei documenti ufficiali. Entrambi significano Paese del Sol Levante , in contrapposizione con il Paese del Sole Calante, cioè la Cina.
