25 settembre 1983: Fuga da Maze
Trentotto prigionieri repubblicani evasero dalla prigione di massima sicurezza di Maze, in Irlanda del Nord.
Una guardia carceraria rimase uccisa ed un’altra gravemente ferita durante l’evasione potrata a termine dai prigionieri dell’Irish Republican Army detenuti nella prigione vicino Lisburn.
I prigionieri fecero entrare di nascosto pistole e coltelli per sopraffare le guardie carcerarie prima di sequestrare un camion di trasporto del cibo, grazie al quale uscirono dal cancello principale di Maze.
