(links-rechts links-rechts)

En met zijn houten geweer
Bewaakt ie kordaat de hele straat
Wie er komt en wie er gaat
Op zijn post achter het raam
Staat ie de hele dag op wacht
De jongen is soldaat
Een soldaat van acht
(links-rechts links-rechts)

(links-rechts links-rechts)

(links-rechts links-rechts)

(links-rechts links-rechts)

(links-rechts links-rechts)

(links-rechts links-rechts)

De jongen is soldaat
Een soldaat van duizend jaar
(links-rechts links-rechts)

Sa esattamente come funziona
Non ha mai avuto bisogno di lezioni
Il ragazzo è un soldato
Un soldato di sei anni
(dest’-sinist’, dest’-sinist’)

E col suo fucile di legno
Sorveglia con fermezza tutta la strada
Chi viene e chi va
Appostato dietro alla finestra
Sta tutto il giorno di guardia
Il ragazzo è un soldato
Un soldato di otto anni
(dest’-sinist’, dest’-sinist’)

(dest’-sinist’, dest’-sinist’)

(dest’-sinist’, dest’-sinist’)

(dest’-sinist’, dest’-sinist’)

Se compare il nemico sul suo schermo
Guardate come lo ammazza col pulsante rosso
Bang, flash, li fa fuori uno dopo l’altro
Lui sa esattamente come si fa a ammazzare
Come si fa il punteggio più alto
Il ragazzo è un soldato
Un soldato di dodici anni
(dest’-sinist’, dest’-sinist’)

E di notte, a letto, sta sveglio e all’erta
(dest’-sinist’, dest’-sinist’)

Il ragazzo è un soldato
Un soldato di mille anni
(dest’-sinist’, dest’-sinist’)

THE ETERNAL SOLDIER

This boy is a hero
Look how he’s rushing with his plastic sword
He’s got his plastic shield ready for use
There’s no one who can knock him down here
There’s no one who can catch him here
The boy is a soldier
A four years old soldier

Using a bucket as his helmet
He’s playing the pictures he sees in the news
But he’s serious, he’s not pretending
He knows exactly how it works
He’s never been in need of lessons
The boy is a soldier
A six years old soldier
(left-right, left-right!)

And with his wooden rifle
He stands firm watching the street
Lurking from the window
Who’s coming and who’s going
He stands watching all the day long
The boy is a soldier
(left-right, left-right!)

If you aren’t with me, you’re a traitor,
So I have to wipe you out with my words.
Nobody taught him all this,
He knows everything out of hate,
If you aren’t with me, you are against me.
The boy is a soldier,
A nine years old soldier.
(left-right, left-right!)

He slips under his bedsheets at night
While the wind’s blowing from outside.
He should not do this,
Otherwise they get in.
The boy is afraid
And he is not yet ten.
(left-right, left-right!)

Look then at our hero,
Look how he’s casting his toy grenade
Throwing himself down before it explodes
Nobody’s shown him how to do
He knows all this on his own.
The boys is a soldier,
An eleven years old soldier.
(left-right, left-right!)

When the enemies show on his monitor
Look how he kills them by pressing a red button
Bang! Flash! He’s bumping ‘em off one by one,
He knows exactly how to kill,
How to reach the highest score.
The boy is a soldier,
A twelve years old soldier.
(left-right, left-right!)

Then, in bed, while lying in watch
He sees the curtains moving
And this shouldn’t happen.
So he must keep in silence,
His gun’s ready under his pillow.
The boy is a soldier,
A thousand years old soldier
(left-right, left-right!).

The boy is a soldier,
A thousand years old soldier.
(left-right, left-right!)
