The Man Who Controls the Drones

Joel Shatzky
Language: English

I'm really fond of slick James Bond,
His big cars and exploding phones.
But his bravery gets a yawn from me
'Cause I'm the man who controls the drones.

SDI is a bore in a cyber war.
Special Ops as cops give me groans,
For I do their job with a twist of a knob.
I'm the man who controls the drones.

The "A" bomb was just too messy,
Created too much debris -
But by killing Talibans I get lots of fans,
My coordinates hold the key.

As I squint and stare from an easy chair
At my target - just skin and bones -
I feel no dismay since I'm far, far away
I'm the man who controls the drones.

There are times in the dark I might miss my mark,
When my target already has flown,
But I rarely see children's misery,
I'm the man who controls the drones.

We can do without troops on the ground now,
We've an army that no one can see.
It's really the same as a video game,
Mass destruction completely guilt free.

Now we can increase the prospects for peace,
With a sprinkling of free-fire zones,
I'll be glad to embrace a new cyber race,
As the man who controls the drones.
