As the sun rises high
in the eastern sky
and settles down in the west
Men hungering for freedom
are dying in Long Kesh
So they told the Iron Maiden
Maggie I’ll tell ya true,
We’ll die before
We suffer one more
indignity from you
We won’t wear
Your prison clothes
Like thugs or murderers here
We wait in our cells in blankets,
To cause the whole dammed world to hear,
Of confessions gained by torture,
Children murdered in the streets
Like a Phoenix
The Irish spirit rises
We’ll not know defeat.
Denied a trial by jury
Arrested without cause
You’re thin façade of civility
Has shown so many flaws
Maggie, the whole worlds
Watchin’ now
How you run the Maze.
May the dying face of
Bobby Sands
Haunt you all your days
As the sun rises high
in the eastern sky
and settles down in the west
Men hungering for freedom
are dying in Long Kesh
in the eastern sky
and settles down in the west
Men hungering for freedom
are dying in Long Kesh
So they told the Iron Maiden
Maggie I’ll tell ya true,
We’ll die before
We suffer one more
