Here Come the Cowboys
Look at them ride
They've got the horses and guns
and God on their side
You can see it in the headlines, feel it in the air
everybody knows but nobody cares
I've been living in this border town
just trying to make ends meet
Some of my friends have fallen on hard times
Some have landed on their feet
Now that got this old man from California
They say he's killed quite a few
I wish he'd find himself another sunset
to ride off into
Here Come the Cowboys
Look at them ride
They've got the horses and guns
and God on their side
Well, you don't need a scout with his ear to the ground
Everybody knows there's gonna be another showdown
They slaughtered all of the Buffalo,
most of the Indians too
This is like some corny ' B ' grade movie
that starting to come true
When there's a sound of distant thunder
and the sky is red at dawn
You have to be the weatherman
to know there's going to be a storm
Here Come the Cowboys
Look at them ride
They've got the horses and guns
and God on their side
Well it's a little bit frightening isn't it, Girls and Boys?
Here Come the Cowboys
[spoken]
Well, I guess the time has come
to speak truthfully
They said it couldn't happen here...
And I used to agree...
but I been thinking about this for a long time now...
I'm gonna have to speak my mind..anyhow..
I guess everybody hates something...
That's O.K. in small amounts...
but it seems the issues don't matter anymore...
It's the fight alone that counts
I just don't believe
it could have come to this
The lesson's seemed so clear
How could you miss them
Now it doesn't really matter
if your afraid or too proud
It's time to to stand up and be counted
and shout it out loud!...
Here Come the Cowboys
Look at them ride
They've got the horses and guns
but they haven't got me on their side!
Well somebody's talking sense but it gets lost in the noise
Here Come the Cowboys
Look at them ride
They've got the horses and guns
and God on their side
You can see it in the headlines, feel it in the air
everybody knows but nobody cares
