Beware of Jean Saint Malo,
He will lead you to ruin.
Sleeping along the bayou,
Living the free life.
He says that his mother was an African princess,
And that his father was the god Tchango.
So why does he sleep outdoors in the roseaux cane.
Vivre la vie marron.
Live the free life, break the chains.
Live the free life, as free as a bird.
Once it is dark after the night has fallen,
He will sneak up from behind the swamp.
Stealing corn, stealing cattle.
Vivre la vie marron.
Live the free life, break the chains.
Live the free life, as free as a bird.
Beware for the love of God, Marie.
He will also steal your heart.
To take you far away from your home.
Vivre la vie marron.
Live the free life, break the chains.
Live the free life, as free as a bird.

Nell’album “Le Fou”
