Lyrics and Music by Rob Lincoln

Satirical protest song written at the height of Shock & Awe.

Abu-ghraib-leash

It was written in 2004. It was inspired by a Steven Colbert report on Comedy Central where he said that America is not who we are but who we think we are and those who say who we are is what we do must therefore be insane or unpatriotic. This song has an unpleasant edge and is not funny...because all the facts are true. It's a title we can all agree with...or can we?
Some people try to put down Uncle Sam
They just don't understand
They don't love the red, white and blue
But you and I we know what's true.

Now I know our army's made a few miscues
Killed thousands of civilians what can you do?
When your fighting for their freedom some children must die
But if the truth be told it's OK to lie. ~Why?~

'Cause we're better than Saddam
This ain't a Vietnam
Got bigger guns and bombs
For the crusade we're on
We are better than Saddam
Killed his 14 year old grandson
Put his dead sons on display
Showed him the American way.

Now freedom is what we went there for
It may not have been what we said before
But we had to quickly find some better excuse
We put the UN resolution to good use.

Saddam was a threat he was very bad
Killed tens of thousands when he got mad..
Don't matter that was back about a decade before
Just seemed the right time to have another war

'Cause we're better than Saddam
This ain't a Vietnam
Got bigger guns and bombs
For the crusade we're on
We are better than Saddam
Our tortures more fun
Because Uncle Sam has a gentler touch
We like dogs & guns

Now Iraq is free the happy people are saved
Don't worry about that prison called Abu Graib
The torture they went through didn't hurt as much
Because Uncle Sam has a gentler touch.

There may not have been any WMD's
But lots of cash is flowing in some industries..
It's not just for oil that we fought this war
But armaments, elections and.. the holy dollar.

We are better than Saddam
This ain't a Vietnam
Got bigger guns and bombs
For the crusade we're on
We are better than Saddam
He killed more than us
As long as we kill less
Don't see what's the fuss
And until he killed more
It's OK ! We'd never be so cruel
.
