When I was a kid in school
We pulled the lids of our desks down
Put our heads on the ground
And waited for the bomb sounds
Every night dreams of fire and light
And the end of it all
We were just so small
Huddled in the dark halls
Didn't they see the world they made up for their kids
Was going down?
Wasn't that enough to wake them up?
Watched the N.V. on our home TV and saw the bombs fly
Watched the people die
And the mothers cry
Cousins Joe and Phil both came home killed
I was next to die
Could feel the end nigh
So I asked why
Couldn't they see the world they'd made up for us kids
Was going down?
Wasn't that enough to wake them up?
Peace, Mir, Paz.
Pax, shalom.
Amani.
Heiwa, pingyon
Planes start to fly
Dark birds flyin' high
Thought we'd had enough
Ain't it been enough?
Ain't that enough?
So many people dyin'
Cities burning in the sky
Aint' that enough to wake you up?
Please, won't you wake up?
Can't you see the world we're leaving to our kids is going down?
Ain't that enough to wake you up?
Peace, Mir, Paz.
Pax, shalom.
Amani.
Heiwa, pingyon
We pulled the lids of our desks down
