One night in a prison cell
A black women used an ice pick to kill
A jailer who tried to rape her
Tried to rape her.
Joan Little met her fate
She was charged by the racist state
With murder, the first degree murder of Clarence Alligood.
No one has the right
To rape and terrorize
Black women, any women, black women
No one has the right
To rape and terrorize
Black women, any women, black women
The prosecutor tried hard to put white male prison guards
Above the law, outside the law
Above the law.
A former member of the Klan, he works with
Police and businessmen
maintaining order. and power
The ruler's law
Joan, by defending her dignity
Helps us put an end to white and male supremacy.
Joan, by defending her dignity
Helps us put an end to white and male supremacy.
They hid from the grand iury
That she fought violently before she
struck him down, struck him down
Struck him down.
Not just courtroom legality, it was the
Power of the people that freed
Joan Little, Joan Little

(fonte: Prison Culture).
