The Soldiers Marched for Peace

Brendon Ashton
Langue: anglais

Lyrics and music by Brendan Ashton
'This song came from hearing about post traumatic stress and interviews with soldiers who after coming back from the war did not feel appreciated. People have the tendency of saying it's their fault they knew what they were getting into when they joined the army. But I don't believe many of them thought they were political tools following the whims of George Bush and Tony Blair. I don't know I might be wrong. Who is ultimately responsible for starting wars, I don't think it is soldiers.' (Brendan Ashton)
When the war is at an end and reasons are forgot
When they all come marching home and heroes go to work
In every city in every town
Across the country wide
When they all come marching home they're left alone to cry

Brave hearts and heroes bold in battles showed their strength
As friends and souls, lived and died each day facing death
Come home to all the family
Together sharing pain
But what remains inside their minds becomes a curse to them

Madness loneliness and shame they all come marching home
The man who was behind the gun without he's alone
And as the casualties of peace
Look for answers and for friends
They find they stand behind locked doors and the war begins again

When the war is at an end and reasons are forgot
When they all come marching home and heroes go to work
In every city, in every town
Across the country wide
When they all come marching home they're left alone to cry
