Björn Afzelius was influenced musically by Elvis and The Beatles, among other groups from the 1950's and 1960's. In this very short song, he accuses America of being responsible for the deaths of these important musicians.
Elvis Presley died of a heart attack on August 16, 1977 in Graceland, Memphis, Tennessee. John Lennon was shot to death on December 8, 1980 outside the Dakota apartment building where he lived with Yoko Ono. He was shot in the back 4 times by Mark David Chapman and died at Roosevelt Hospital.

Un samba composto da Paulo Benjamin de Oliveira (1901-1949), detto Paulo da Portela – dal nome della strada di Rio de Janeiro dove abitava – importante sambista attivo tra il 1920 ed il 1940.

L'interpretazione più celebre di questo samba è quella di Antônio Candeia Filho (1935-1978), detto semplicemente Candeia, incisa in "Axé - Gente Amiga do Samba", ultimo suo disco prima di morire prematuramente, in ancor più giovane età dell'autore del brano.

"Till min kära" is a catchy tune that people danced to when it was popular in Sweden. However this song has a great deal of meaning about the world, both when it was written and now. From the album Innan tystnaden (Before the silence) from 1982.

Björn wrote the following notes about his song in his "95 Sånger" ("95 Songs") book:

The fastest song the band has ever recorded. I wanted to cram in as many chord changes as we could and still keep the whole thing rocketing alone. It was inspired by reading about some of the notes, letters and diaries that were found in the allied trenches during the First World War, left by soldiers about to go over the top, never to be seen, and in many cases never to be found, again. I thought it was stirring stuff, heart breaking, poignant, and in the case of many a British Tommy, blackly amusing…never say fucking die…sometimes all there is left is to laugh…

Counterpointing dark subject matter again with a jolly upbeat tune and melody seemed to be key here, and we rattled this off in no time once we’d worked it through. That was mine, just a JJ 'where things are now' song. It was one of my melancholy songs about the very strong images that had occurred during my life, while I was growing up. The 'Orange road burning' was about the self immolation of Buddhist priests during the Vietnam war, setting themselves on fire. The 'Youth on fire' referred to Jan Palak, who I'd talked about before on Euroman. The 'Metal machines...' line was about the Prague spring in '68, when the Czechs tried to be much more liberal and the Russian tanks just rolled in. 'Two generations' referred to the two world wars, 'Birth pains' was about the birth of Israel and what I remembered about the Yom Kippur war. 'Freedom in the shape of disease' was about AIDS, suddenly this new word AIDS had arisen when we were writing Sculpture. It was an unknown disease then. Björn Afzelius wrote the following about his beautiful song in his 95 Sånger (95 Songs) book:

Prime Minister Olof Palme lead the Social Democratic party in Sweden from 1969 until his assassination (February 28, 1986). He was killed on Sveavägen, one of the main streets in Stockholm. The you tube video shows powerful images from that tragic event.

The lyrics of "Natten" were written by Mikael Wiehe and the music is by Björn Afzelius. The song is on the album Björn Afzelius & Mikael Wiehe (1986)

On Mikael Wiehe's website he commented in "Sångerna," 2002":



My husband and I were on sabbatical in Stockholm when this terrible event took place. Several nights before the murder, we had been to the same movie theatre to see "The Mozart Brothers" film by Suzanne Osten. The feeling in Stockholm that next day when we all read the huge headlines, was similar to when President Kennedy was assassinated in 1963.

Il mio contributo al nuovissimo percorso sui Liberi Uccelli è questa cavalcata psichedelica dei Jefferson Airplane uscita dalla penna e dalla voce straordinaria di Grace Slick.

Aerie è il nido dell'aquila, qui presa a simbolo di libertà assoluta, senza legge, senza padrone, mentre gli umani non possono volare e non possono stare senza un fucile a portata di mano.

La canzone era anche la sigla di Perdido en el siglo, un mitico programma di Controradio Firenze condotto, non a caso, da Aquila DJ. Nonostante il titolo manuchaesco la programmazione musicale era incentrata sul rock anni '60 e '70 e sulla psichedelia. Non so che fine ha fatto Aquila, mi piacerebbe incontrarlo alla FLOG con l'immancabile birrino in mano, ad ascoltare un bel blues e brindare insieme alla libertà.

José Mendes da Silva è vissuto in una favela di Rio de Janeiro, o Morro do Pau da Bandeira. Credo di mestiere abbia fatto il vigile urbano, ma andò in pensione molto presto per via del suo stato di salute. La ritengo l'emblema di cosa significhi lavorare in una band. Dei problemi, delle contraddizioni che riserva. Chiunque abbia avuto un gruppo musicale, sa.

È chiaramente un brano apologetico dell'Occidente a stelle e strisce, contro la grigia, afona e retrograda parte orientale, qui la RDT. L'io narrante è un giovane al suo fine settimana, con tanta voglia di "mare e vele", di avventure, "di poter gridare", delle discoteche e delle "cento bocche che respirano su e giù" della luccicante parte di là.

Ma non è che tutto questo sia scritto in ottica critica.
Nessuno sdoppiamento tra l'autore e l'io narrante. Il senso del brano non è "Poveri ragazzi del blocco sovietico, che si credono chissà cosa ci sia qui, mentre non abbiamo che catene colorate... Gente: aggiustate il vostro socialismo, non trasognate... (continua)

Questa canzone è dedicata ai cosiddetti "Zazous", i giovani swingers francesi che, come gli omologhi tedeschi della Swingjugend, negli anni dell'ultima guerra furono perseguitati dai regimi, perchè la loro condotta anarcoide, gaudente e scanzonata non si addiceva all'ordine costituito, e bollati dalla Resistenza come codardi menefreghisti, quando non come collaborazionisti, per la loro attitudine apolitica benchè antiautoritaria.

Memoryhouse is the 2002 debut album by neo-classical composer Max Richter. Originally released in 2002 under the Late Junction label, the album was reissued by FatCat Records in 2009 and 2014 with alternative album artwork.

Memoryhouse received largely positive reviews from contemporary music critics. Pitchfork Media gave the album a very positive review in a retrospective review for the 2014 reissue on FatCat, stating:
