Paolo Rossi ha eseguito spesso “Ho visto un re”, con “rivisitazioni” più o meno consistenti. Tipo la seguente (registrata a Ariccia il 5 agosto 2011):
Nel 1993, nell’album Canzonacce aveva proposto una versione “rivisitata” assieme a Enzo Jannacci, speditaci da un anonimo nel 2021 assieme a un video e alla sua trascrizione del testo. Il video è, purtroppo, scomparso. Rimane la trascrizione, in alcuni punti lacunosa, dell’anonimo; non esistendo più il video, non è possibile confrontarla ed integrarla. La lasciamo così com’è, “ad memoriam”. La versione contiene alcuni riferimenti a polici degli anni ‘90 del secolo scorso. [RV]

C'è un uomo che mi ha inspirato per tutta la vita. Io l'ho visto da quando ero piccolo. Io l'ho visto da quando sono rimasto piccolo. Quel signore lì, che m'ha fatto sbagliare questo spettacolo informale entrando, è il maestro esimio ed eccellente Enzo Jannacci.

Non è che, in questa canzone, Richard Fariña "fece riferimento" a I [Once] Loved a Lass, canzone popolare scozzese settecentesca: ne riprese proprio la melodia, tale e quale. Qui, in un impeto di ricordi personali, te la faccio ascoltare dai Tannahill Weavers. Il fatto è che l'ho ascoltata così proprio dai Tannahill Weavers (coi quali ho cantato assieme in una canzone), in piazza Santa Croce nel luglio del 1982.
