Jeremy Dean Hinzman (born in 1979 in Rapid City, South Dakota) was the first American Iraq war resister/deserter to seek refugee status in Canada.

He enlisted in the U.S. army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division and deserted in 2004 to avoid participating in the Iraq War. "He fled to Canada with his wife and preschool-age son. Now living in Toronto and working as a bike courier, Hinzman faces a court martial and a possible five-year prison sentence if he returns to the U.S.. Hinzman said he sought refugee status because he opposed the war in Iraq on moral grounds and thought the U.S. invasion violated international human rights standards."

Sangue e cenere

La scorsa estate i Gang hanno deciso di utilizzare la modalità del crowdfunding, con grandissimo successo, visto che hanno raccolto 10 volte la cifra richiesta, lo hanno fatto per finanziare la realizzazione del nuovo disco Sangue e cenere, che arriva quindi ben 14 anni dopo Controverso, il loro ultimo album di inediti.

Certo in questi anni c’è sempre stata una intensa attività live con oltre 100 concerti ogni anno, ci sono stati parecchi  dischi tra live, cover, riletture, collaborazioni ( La Macina, Daniele BiacchessiMassimo Priviero, Gaetano Liguori) ma gli amanti della band aspettavano sempre un nuovo lavoro di inediti, che ora è finalmente nel nostro lettore.

Con i fondi raccolti hanno potuto fare le cose per  bene, registrazioni in USA con una bella produzione di Jono Manson, una ricca strumentazione che vede ad accompagnare i fratelli Severini... (continua)
