I never believed that people come to my shows, or rock shows to be told anything.
But I do believe that they come to be reminded of things. To be reminded of who they are, at their most joyous, at their deepest, when life feels full. It's a good place to get in touch with your heart and your spirit, to be amongst the crowd. And to be reminded of who we are and who we can be collectively. Music does those things pretty well sometimes, particularly these days when some reminding of who we are and who we can be isn't such a bad thing.
That weekend of the March for our Lives, we saw those young people in Washington, and citizens all around the world, remind us of what faith in America and real faith in American democracy looks and feels like. It was just encouraging to see all those people... (continua)

Credo che la prima strofa non parli del loro primo rapporto.
Ha disseppellito la pistola con i vermi (un soldato che non voleva andare a combattere) le prime sere nervose (dopo avere ricevuto la chiamata per l'Iraq). Si ubriacava col gin, per questo il suo respiro non aveva più lo stesso odore e non riusciva a metterlo dentro. Avrebbe dovuto passare dal portico del diavolo (andare a combattere una guerra).

Jack of All Trades
Inutile dire che amo Springsteen e soprattutto l'intensità della sua musica. A volte gli appassionati sono meglio dei critici di professione come ho letto nei commenti precedenti. Secondo me il Boss è una contraddizione in termini, in quanto si dichiara il contrario di quello che pensa. Non solo in questo brano ma anche in The Ghost of Tom joad, perché viene fuori il suo individualismo e, per quanto si sforzi di compiacere i meno fortunati, che, però, comprano i dischi, non ce la fa ad esprimere il suo vero pensiero politico. Insomma non riesce ad essere demagogo e populista come un Bob Dylano o altri di quel genere. Questa è una canzone che dovrebbe far riflettere molti Italiani, che non sanno far altro che piangersi addosso.

La stupenda “Millworker” di James Taylor ha avuto molte cover, da Bette Midler ad Emmylou Harris, dai Pearl Jam a Bruce Springsteen. Questa che propongo è l’altrettanto bella versione francese di Francis Cabrel, dal suo album “Cabrel public” del 1984.

High Hopes
The above lyrics are for a Springsteen's studio version of HIGH HOPES recorded in 1995. It was first released on the Blood Brothers promo EP in 1996.
The Recording Sessions
In 1994, Bruce Springsteen recorded an unreleased album with Shane Fontayne and other members of the 1992-1993 touring band. Springsteen's manager Jon Landau wasn't a fan of the project (the 1994 album), and recommended shelving it and focusing more on a "career overview"; this lead to the Greatest Hits sessions with the E Street Band in early 1995.
Springsteen called the band in early January 1995, and they assembled for the recording sessions on 09 Jan 1995 at the Hit Factory in New York City, NY. This was their first studio reunion in 11 years (since the Born In The USA sessions) and their first ever with Nils Lofgren. HIGH HOPES was among the songs recorded during these sessions. Being a cover, it is not surprising that the song was not included on the Greatest Hits album.
