Sei andato via
proprio come un sultano
degno del tuo soprannome
volato via da quel palazzo
che non ti meritava
come il fumo, fuori la finestra,
della sigaretta che ti sto dedicando

Allora adesso lavori al mercato
aiuto mio fratello
e Mustafà l’hai più visto
l’ho sognato stanotte
sarà difficile vederlo ancora
ma che dici sei pazzo?
pazzi siamo tutti noi
che lavoriamo a qualsiasi condizione

Cucina araba, assaggia un po’
dentro che c’è? chermula fratello
chermula, e che è?

Eravamo addestrati
come reclute al car
guardate chi c’è intorno
prima di avvicinarvi al cantiere

Se intuite presenza
di polizia o sindacalisti
continuate a camminare
e presentatevi il giorno dopo

Quando avrò i soldi fratello
tornerò in Marocco
abito in tre case bianche
in un posto bellissimo
dove si sente il vento
alzare la sabbia
e la sabbia che colpisce
i muri

Dammi la ricetta
che voglio prepararlo anch’io così
la mia ragazza ama
la cucina africana
e così al mercato ho cambiato idea
cucinerò in tuo onore
in onore del sultano dei ponteggi

La musica dei Clash
mi sta spaccando le orecchie
le lacrime continuano a scendere
forse è per gli schizzi d’olio
il comando repeat fisso su “I’m not down”

Ci trattano come schiavi
e bisogna anche ringraziarli
in gruppo sulla palmiro togliatti
anche con la febbre a 38
a sperare di essere scelti

Che hai preparato per pranzo
ho una fame
pesce, oggi mangiamo pesce con chermula,
chermula, e che è?
ma hai gli occhi rossi
che ti è successo?

Sei volato via Mustafà
proprio come abbiamo fatto
stanotte in un sogno
mentre insieme sorvolavamo
un posto bellissimo
dove il vento alza la sabbia.

THE FLIGHT

You flew away like a sultan
flying far from that building which didn't deserve you
just like the smoke of the fag that I am dedicating to you,

"So you are working at the market now",
"I help my brother"
“And did you see Mustapha?”
“I dreamt about him last night
“It will be difficult to see him anymore”
“What the hell are you saying, are you crazy?”
“All of us are crazy who accept to work under any condition”

Arabic cuisine, taste it what's inside?
chermula my brother, chermula, what’s that?

We were trained as rookies are when they join the army
look around you, before approaching the building site

If you perceive the presence of the police or the trade unionists
keep on walking and come the next day

When I'll have enough money, my brother, I'll come back to Morocco
I live in 3 white houses, in a wonderful place
where you can feel the wind shake the sand and the sand that gently hits the walls

Give me the receipt, please, I want to cook fish in this way
my girlfriend loves the African cuisine
and so at the market i changed my mind
I'll cook in your honour
in honour of the scaffold sultan

The music of the Clash
is at full blast
tears keep on running down
maybe it’s because of the oil spurts

They treat us like slaves
and we have also to thank them
gathered around the Palmiro Togliatti road
even with a bad fever
hoping to be chosen

What are you making for lunch,
I am so hungry
fish, today we eat fish with chermula sauce
chermula, what’s that?
but you have tears in your eyes
what happened?

You flew away, Mustapha
just like we did
last night in a dream
while we were flying over a wonderful place
where the wind shakes the sand
