The first half is the narrator/us/the listener experiencing anger and frustration at the discourse right now. The lyrics refer to multibillionaires and oligarchical figures like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg. All these people have so much power and can control what we see in our lives.
The fact that these people have so much power and wealth has created a tension that’s boiling. A lot of the first half of the song alludes to that, along with war as well. That same type of greed can arise in our politicians who are, alarmingly, quite open with it. America is profiting from selling weapons to Israel who are butchering Palestine.
The first half of the song is incredibly angry, while the second half asks, ‘How can we be hopeful in a time like this?’ The message of the song is about finding hope through the destruction of democracy and the dissolution of society and culture.
As much as we need to be angry and frustrated, we need to utilise that for collective action, for looking after one another, for understanding how trauma effects all of us both on a societal and personal level.

La prima parte rappresenta il narratore/noi/l’ascoltatore che prova rabbia e frustrazione verso il discorso pubblico di oggi. Le parole fanno riferimento a miliardari e figure oligarchiche come Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg. Tutte queste persone hanno un potere enorme e possono controllare ciò che vediamo nelle nostre vite.
Il fatto che queste persone abbiano così tanto potere e ricchezza ha creato una tensione che sta ribollendo. Gran parte della prima metà della canzone allude a questo, ma anche alla guerra. Lo stesso tipo di avidità può emergere nei nostri politici che, in modo allarmante, ne parlano apertamente. Gli Stati Uniti stanno traendo profitto dalla vendita di armi a Israele, che sta massacrando la Palestina.
La prima metà della canzone è incredibilmente arrabbiata, mentre la seconda si chiede: “Come possiamo provare a sperare in un periodo come questo?” Il messaggio del brano riguarda il trovare speranza in mezzo alla distruzione della democrazia e alla dissoluzione della società e della cultura.
Per quanto sia necessario essere arrabbiati e frustrati, dobbiamo usare tutto ciò per l’azione collettiva, per prenderci cura gli uni degli altri, per comprendere come il trauma colpisca tutti noi, sia a livello sociale che personale.
