"Mestissima e potente. E' un gruppo egiziano. L'ho scoperto stamattina leggendo il seguente articolo." [Luigi Piccioni]

This is an Issue

They save sea turtles
They kill human animals
But this is one issue, and that’s another

How to become a white angel?
Bear half a conscience
Fight for freedom movements
Annihilate liberation movements
Distribute your compassion and tenderness
Over the killed according to nationality
But this is one issue, and that’s another

How to become civilized
Abiding by all terms and conditions
Make all your words righteous
Take trees into your arms
Sugarcoat titles and names
While an army demolishes a nearby school
And when caught red-handed… with blood
Say everyone’s a victim
But this is one issue, and that’s another

How can I believe this world?
When it talks about humanity?
Seeing a mother lamenting her child
Who died in a raid… hungry
Making a killer on par with their victim
With all honesty and fairness
But this is one issue, and that’s another

How can I sleep peacefully?
Plugging my ears
While a family is buried under the rubble of its home
Forsaken... denied rescue
As if the earth in which they’re buried
Is not of this earth
But this is one issue, and that’s another

How to live in an open prison
With bars of fire and ashes
Raise from the rubble
Grab your killer by the neck
Gather your remains and fight
And show the deceiving world
How the law of the jungle is forced
Where’s the route to freedom
How to take on a tank barehanded

It doesn’t matter if the world speaks out
Die free… don’t live in submission
Inspire generation after generation
How to live and die for a cause

What world are we calling for
To denounce and condemn?
Condemn all you want
For any condemnation of crimes in the slaughterhouse
Won’t soften the powder’s charge
And won’t bring back daylight
But this’s one issue…
And that’s an honorable struggle…

English version / Versione inglese / Version anglaise / Englanninkielinen versio: Muhannad

Tried to make rhyme, and sound like a song in English. Original Arabic poem by Mostafa Ibrahim.
That's a Cause

Rescuing sea turtles
killing human animals
that's a cause
and this a cause

how do you become a white angel?
bearing only half a conscience
claiming to speak for freedoms
stomping liberation movements with big guns
handing out sympathies to casualties,
according to citizenships & nationalities

that's a cause
and this a cause

how do you become a civilized human?
matching all features and conditions
speaking words dressed in a bullet proof vest
as you go on tree-hugging missions
calling the executioner a protector
armies shelling schools with ammunition
when caught in blood red-handed
collateral damage is your position

that's a cause
and this a cause

how do I believe this world
when it tells me be about being humane?
watching a mother crying over her child
murdered in a raid, hungry in vain
equating the killed to the killer
claiming naturality a level plain

that's a cause
and this a cause

how do I contend to sleep
ears plugged, eyes shut
a family buried under their home deep
denied rescue, left to rut
as if, the earth under which they're buried
from our planet ought to be gut

that's a cause
and this a cause

how can one live in this wide prison?
jail cells of fire and lead
we rise from under the rubble, clinging
to the one who want's us dead
fighting for our lives,
gathering pieces of our flesh
subjects to the law of the jungle
characters in a theatre of bloodshed
searching for a path to freedom
tracking an armoured tank ahead

what world do we call upon?
one to censure and accuse
condemn as you wish from now on
it won't soften the pain and abuse
it's a slaughterhouse in here
a massacre inside on the loose
words won't bring back our mornings
lies won't overshadow truths

so what if the world condemns
dying free, over living on pause
inspiring generation after generation
how to live and die for a cause

that's a cause
and this our resistance

Rispettando ogni norma e condizione?
Fa’ che ogni tua parola sia giusta,
Prènditela a cuore per gli alberi,
Titoli sdolcinati, nomi e cognomi,

Come posso dormire in pace

E mostra a quel mondo imbroglione

A denunciare e condannare?

@ Muhannad

Your English version has been duly included in the site and we thank you heartily for your work. Just one question: is your name (or nickname) really "Muhannad"...? Or is it a typo? Thank you for specifying!
