Il nuovo album dei Green Day ha un titolo e una data di pubblicazione. Saviors uscirà il 19 gennaio 2024. È prodotto da Rob Cavallo e uscirà nell’anno in cui un altro classico della band sui cui il produttore ha messo le mani, ovvero Dookie, compirà trent’anni.
Il primo singolo estratto dal disco, già suonato nei giorni scorsi dal vivo in un club di Las Vegas, è The American Dream Is Killing Me. È accompagnato da un video (vedi sotto) girato a Los Angeles da Brendan Walter e Ryan Baxley.
È una delle ultime canzoni incise per l’album. «Appena l’abbiamo registrata» ha detto Billie Joe Armstrong «ci siamo detti: ok, questa deve essere la prima». Per il cantante, il pezzo parla del fatto che «il classico sogno americano non funziona per un sacco di gente. Anzi, sta facendo loro del male».
