Buck Tradission

The pantry’s running low, as low as it can go,
We don’t know where our dinner’s coming from.
With nothing else to chew, my nails’ll have to do,
I really want to thank you, Mr. Bomb.

As my expenses mount, my shrinking bank account,
Inspires feelings rather less than calm.
But over in “Defense,” there’s oh such affluence,
I’d really like to thank you, Mr. Bomb.

I gotta hand it to ya, at least that’s what they say,
I hand it to you every single week,
And though I feel peculiar, I guess I’ll be okay,
It only hurts when I think.

No ifs, ands or buts, with pay and budget cuts,
It’s going going going Pentagon.
With infrastructure shot, and schools gone all to pot,
Did I forget to thank you, Mr. Bomb?

Adding up the figures, never fails to trigger,
A feeling in my heart so very warm.
I bet our educators living on potaters,
Really want to thank you, Mr. Bomb.

I don’t sleep very deep; it seems I just can’t keep,
From thinking if we had a false alarm,
And some computer goofed, we’d vanish in a poof,
Did I forget to thank you, Mr. Bomb?

It doesn’t cost a cent for me to sit and ponder,
It’s one thing we can all afford to do,
And thinking where it went,
I just can’t help but wonder,
Where would we be without Y-O-U?

Knowing several million overseas civilians,
Would perish with me fills me with aplomb.
It’s you I’ll eulogize while I vaporize,
Thank you but no thank you, Mr.
Thank you but no thank you, Mr.
Thank you but no thank you, Mr.…
